I live in maryland and I had pushed my MP5 to 120 and still felt like it wanted to go. I don't know if that answered your question but to add something in, I had a 94 Probe GT and I did 125mph before I woosed out. I could have gotten that up to 130-140. and no that didn't have a gov.

I dont really care if my Pro5 has any restictions on it or not,but I do want to say one thing and that is this statment is bull $hit! Mence ask someone to give you a ride in a Corvette or a Viper sometime. A Viper is just getting warmed up at 120, you'd have change your pantys at 130. Oh and if your wondering if I can go fast this is how I do it.

I've done 125 almost 130, but I believe its drag limited also. Usually when its governed itll start like stalling, but this one just sits there wanting more. My REV/SPEED meter helped out, before I would only get up to 115!!!!!!!1

there is no limiter, i got to 140 on a big down hill run, and when i got to the bottom on flat ground, it stayed there and didn't slow down. You might not believe me but i did it and we have no limiter. problem was i got passed by a mustang going 160

The '99-'00 ES sedans had the governor set at 119mph, although you could sometimes hit 120-121mph before it kicked in. This was printed in Mazda training material and I have tested in myself.
I believe the governor is the same for all Protege's except the MP3 and the Mazdaspeed. I'd like to know how all of these Protege5's are hitting 125+ mph. It is past the governor and the Protege5 is heavily drag limited. All of that extra body cladding, luggage rack, spoilers, etc...
Car and Driver, on several top speed passes, could only manage 113mph. The only wagon that could get above 120mph was the Matrix XRS. Most in this comparison were drag limited, but two were governed at 105mph (ZX5) and 111mph (Vibe).
I think the 3rd Gen Protege's with the most potential for top speed are going to be the '99-'00 ES sedans (more top-end power with 1.8L, lower weight), MP3 (more top-end power), and the Mazdaspeed (lots of top-end power. I do believe the MP3 is governed, although I have to find that data. The Mazdaspeed is governed at 130mph.

My friend's civic cut off at I think 180 km/h. I'm pretty sure that our limited speed here in Canada is a bit slower then yours, but not entirely sure. Can somebody confirm? I've been up to 170km/h

My car maxed out at approx. 123 MPH and I'm pretty sure it was due to drag and not a limiter. Limiters usually give the car a stalling/jerking effect and my car wasn't doing that.

THE p5 DOES NOT HAVE A GOVERNER
i've done 185km/h on my car could have gone further but i was running out of road fast so i had to slow her down....after 170km/h the car accerates slowly as others have said due to drag

Well I know my car has a governor hehe. always whenever i get right at 190 - 193 (always in that area) thats where it kicks in.
I can't rememeber well, cuz it was about 3 - 4 months since last time i took the pro all the way upto the governor, but i think it was around 5500 - 6000 RPM in 5th at about 193kph.
Our redline is at 6500, and i think rev limiter is set to 7000, so we still do have some more room for speed, I'd estimate 200 - 205 kph hehe thats without major mods
I also have my max speed in my sig pic.
But we do need allot of road to get that fast, the drag at speeds of 170kph + really slows down the car.
My friends Ford Probe GT has no governor, but its more a sports car than an econo sedan. His Probe hit just a bit over 200kph, maybe about 205kph at 7000 - 7300RPM
oh well theres my opinions on the limiter. I can be Right, or Wrong, who knows, but if someone has found a way to bypass the governor, please do tell.
