Thin paint cure?

Thin paint cure?
I do not know very much about paint, so don't come down on me if this seems like a dumb idea. I have not bought my P5 yet, but when I do, what about taking it to a paint shop and have them put on a couple of layers of clearcoat. Would this help the durability of the paint? What about the cost? It would seem to me this might be an alternative to the expensive 3M films that you have to replace every couple of years. Thanks in advance for any input.

You can get a kit to cover the entire front end with 3M ScotchCal for about $300-400. Installation would be more, of course. You can also buy the pieces and cover what you want.
Check out http://www.xpel.com or http://www.stoneguard.com for the kit/pieces. You could also buy the raw material from them and cut it yourself for a lot less money. It's just 6mil 3M ScotchCal.
I've seen it on cars and it does a great job, and installed properly it is almost invisible.
