I would like an ICE CREAM SANDWICH PLEASE.
The only Honda I would ever own is a riding lawn mower, and weed wacker Oh wait my friend drives one CIVIC.
IF I got paid for my advice I would not be rich.

Well I've been getting along well now with the Element. Almost 3k miles and lovin' it. Drives so incredibly smooth and handles well and I need the space.
My g/f's '00 Jetta (POS) was giving her problems. Lately the A/C died completely (w/only 60k miles!...POS) and was gonna cost a ton since it was the compressor. I talked into trading it in for a '03 5spd silver Protege 5. Has the subwoofer in the back too. $13,500 with rebate plus tax, tags, process, and freight. Just over $15k out the door and got about $6000 on her trade and they didn't notice the A/C wasn't working.
Freakin' thing drives awesome. So much fun and she really likes it of course.

Yeah as long as I'm dating her, I'm back in Protege land at least part-time. I drove it tonight about 15 miles on the freeway and some back roads with her. Of course I like to drive them the way they're meant to be driven.....I didn't rag it really hard but I do lean into turns and maximize the fun factor.
But of course it's new and the g/f starts getting paranoid and accuses me of driving reckless. I'm sure many on this board have been thru this agony before. She drives it like it's a Buick more or less. I've attempted to explain to her that these cars are made to play......it's worthless. When I had my ES, I could do what I wanted and if she complained.......hey it was my car. But this is her car and she's paying for it so I guess I'll have to control myself a little.......or just not drive it much....not worth the nagging.
But car is such a gem. Probably b/c I haven't been in a Pro for almost 3 months now but this 5 feels so tight. I love the new leather wrapped shift **** too and subwoofer is nice. I can't wait until I got enough money to comfortably afford another $400/mo. I'm definitely getting something I can toss around.....ie....Protege ES....or MazdaSpeed (BTW....the new '03.5 rear wings on them look much better than the old ones I think). Maybe I'll just bite the bullet and find a used, low mileage 2.0 DX manual as a 2nd car. Probably could find one of those for $10K. For now I'll just have to wait for new car fever/paranoia to wear off in the g/f....assuming it ever does.

"Style is the element lacking most in this cubist atrocity. Everything about this car screams "tacky." This car just looks terrible; it looks like it was designed by a blind child with arthritis. In a coma. Whoever chose the color scheme for this car was probably asked to do so at gun point, because I don't think it's possible to choose two uglier colors.
This is coming from a guy who has the color-coordination skills of Stevie Wonder, if that tells you anything (I'm straight).
I have to give Honda credit though: at least they chose a name dumb enough to suit the car. What kind of name is "Element"? What next, the Honda Isotope? Fortunately, this is one Element you won't find on the periodic table. I wanted to rate this one lower, but it's nice to see big companies like Honda giving blind designers a chance."
