Wants to stall after getting gas

I posted before about after I fill up my gas tank, for the next for miles my car will want to stall when I idle. The tach jumps between idle and 0 then up to 1K and will go crazy until I drive a few miles.

However, for the first time since I got the car, I only filled up to 3/4 of a tank and it did the same thing. The car only has 23K on it, and it has a new fuel filter, new NGK irdium plugs, clean oil change, new CAI, its been doing this since I got it, before all of these parts. Are there any ideas? EGR? The car sat for a while.

Its an 02 Protege5. Thanks

What grade of fuel (octane) do you use normally pump?

wonder why it has a new fuel filter? They are 'lifetime' fuel filters (100k+ miles). My car actually sorta does the same thing after I fill up.. the idle is just a little stumbly/rough right after filling up. I just attribute it to some small vacuum leak that I haven't tracked down.

They replaced the fuel filter because the car sat for over a year. I usually get 87 octane from sunoco, i mostly get gas from there. I can punch it with 87 and it runs great

Try a different gas station or something .. maybe their tanks are filthy and need to be cleaned or something. Either that or the replacement fuel filter was a piece of s**t.

^^ I know I've experienced it a LOT more since having to use premium fuel.. I think since 10x as much 87 octane is pumped than 93 octane, it does get stale/filthy.

If you could narrow it down to a specific station to avoid that would probably help. Hopefully nothing is wrong with your fuel filter, as it isn't a simple in-line filter on the supply line, and rather just like a sock over the pump.
