Water leak on driver's front floor
This is the 1st time posting, and I am unsure where to post a 'need help' type message, so if I am in the wrong area please help a guy out in routing me to the correct area...
I own a 2003 Protege LX, and recently have noticed after removing the front driver's floormat to clean it that it was soaked, and the carpet underneath was really wet as well. Now, I realize it is snowy in Michigan, but I do not drag in much slush, snow to melt on the mat, and I even use another set of floormats on top of the factory set to protect them even further.
Now, I dried the floormats inside the house, and used a blow dryer to dry the carpet in the car. I decided to do a little test and took it on a dry day to a self-serve carwash and used the high-pressure spray, aiming it underneath the driver's side, in and around the windshield/cowling area, and inside the driver's front wheelwell. I got back in the car, and lo and behold, the front driver's footwell was fairly wet again.
So, my question is, where do I look? Has anybody else with a 2003 LX, or I guess back to 2001(can't remember when the body style changed)experienced a similar leak in that location, and if so, what remedied it?
Please e-mail direct, darkshadow79@webtv.net, or post here.
Thanks in advance for help,
Eric

Da P-funk...thanks for replying, didn't think I was getting too many readers on this one. I took it to the dealer today, and of course they didn't find a source for the leak, problem is they didn't even pull the carpet back to check either. According to them, they just ran a hose into the windshield cowling area, and in the wheel well, but as I told the idiots when I brought it in, the leak seems slow, so when I drove home tonight, carpet was wet again, they just didn't give it a long enough time to trickle onto the floorboards...I am clueless on where to go next, because I was told by the svc. manager that if I were to bring it in again and they couldn't locate the source of the trouble, Mazda would charge for the visit...geez the car only has 2,800 miles on it...

Well, I had a problem with water comming in on my passenger side floor after a trip to Florida after a rainfall. After asking for advice at focaljet.com. It was a ford focus!!! I was instructed to check the weather stripping on the outside of the car. Ford tapes this down with a Tape "litterally"!!! I checked this out and noticed it was lifted. I got some of that black RTC or RTV or whatever and glued it down and held it with pressure for 24 hrs with 2x4's and brick on the outside of the window. Problem solve.!!! Frd wanted $400 to fix
