I got mine from Ebay
Looks just like the Injen.

How do you make it quit hunting at idle part of the time.
Ocassionally when I take off froma light it falls flat on its face because it wnats to idle at 200
You punch it and it takes a second.
When it is right it is fine.

I have reset the ECU and base idle, NO CHANGE.
I do not have any air leaks.

Help

 

i have heard of a few people having this problem....I have an ebay SRI and have no problems.

 

Most on eBay are for 2002 and beyond for the 2.0L. I only found this one for my car. Any advice if I should buy it or not? Is it any good? This One

 

that is the EXACT SAME intake I have. I'm very happy with it. I would recommend though spending the extra $10 and just buying the CAI. I think I may do it as well and powdercoat this intake and sell it.

 

I just don't see another one on eBay that goes to my car unless I'm mistaken and an 02 will also fit. Remember that I have the non-MP3. So, if you have a recommendation, I would appreciate it. I would like to get this thing and install it ASAP. Funny thing that the $28 intake takes $17 to ship, so the price is about the same as the higher priced ones anyway....highway robbery for shipping.

On another note, I saw this guy's web page and it's very interesting, the solution he's come up with (LOL)...but anyway, the pictures are excellent in knowing the whole set-up. My internals look exactly like his. Here's his web page.

I'm pretty sure the one for the 02 will fit. I've had the opportunity to tinker w/ my friend's 01 MP3, and its almost the exact same as my 03 LX under the hood (he has an engine cover, no other differences I can recall).

 

Can anyone confirm what Tranquil dude is saying? Remember that I don't have the MP3 nor the MSP, just the regular 'ole 01 ES.

WELL I have decided to spend the extra money and go for the Injen Intake. I have seen and spoke to other MP5 owners and feel that the Injen is the best solution. The intake does make a differance if it is placed out of the engine bay. If you find one that has the same type as the Injen then go for it!

I personally went for the AEM, not so much for the performance, but more for the CARB sticker since the part of town I lived in sucked in terms of being pulled over for "reports of street racing...pop your hood.." ..

for CAI at the ghetto 1/8 track on Friday night, I built my own Home Depot special.Whole thing costed about 25 bucks and took about an hour and a half...just some heat resistant pvc-ish material, a 2-3 inch connector with a coupler on the throttle body, and 2 u-bends. I basically copied the Injen design, and ran it out of the little fender hole, and attached some crap STP paper filter with another connector. I did drill holes for the sensors too, and used the rubber plugs to connect them.

It was ghetto, and cheap, , but for the track I felt an amazing throttle response over the AEM and convinced myself I felt more torque. But I did get the idea from a bunch of my friends who are really into pre-runner rangers and made their own intakes.

 

did you get the IS or the EIS injen intake?

when you do are you going to go for the cold air intake?

what is there to do about driving in wet conditions with that? is there some type of filter that can be put on it to prevent water damage to the engine?

i'm asking this because i want to get an injen intake as well...but not sure if it will be too much trouble owning the cold air version

 

Pardon my ignorance but do intakes really improve gas mileage in a noticable way? Roddimus have you seen any mileage benefits with the Ebay SRI? Does mileage improve with CAI rather than an SRI? Anyone use the HKS mushroom filter?
