What Gives?

I changed to synthetic oil and my gas mileage didn't change, if anything is was about 1 mpg less. Does the synthetic oil take time to settle in, or was all the hype about it just exaggeration? I put in Amsoil to be specific.

Well, I had already changed the transaxle to synthetic when I took my initial measurement. I just now measured it again with synthetic motor oil. I was unaware of the API rating, but I have a 2000, so I think the warrenty is probably up anyway. I think conditions were similar, it was the same road trip. But ah well.

Also since you seem to know some about amsoil, the reason I got it was because they claimed it has a 1 year, 25000 mile drain interval. There's no way I drive 25,000 miles in one year, maybe 10,000, so I was going to change it again then. Does that seem about right to you?

I'd have no way of telling.
