well I can take criticism, as I dont claim to know much about doing this kind of work on cars, I think I use more force changing a flat after they rust to the wheels, then I used cranking on the exhaust bolt, the car didnt budge.

finally washed and used the finish 2001 crap. had to go to a car wash to get it clean, water restrictions over the area. the weather will get colder so it'll prob be my last car wash for the year...

Yes, it is 'the internet'. If there is a community that runs based on those two values as outlined by Josh, and someone thinks they have the right to go against that and come down hard on people who are novices, ask the same question more than once, or don't search before posting --that person doesn't have a 'right' to do any of those things.

It's the internet, people can be banned (I know this lol).

We're all here to HELP each other, and be kind and friendly about it. Being mean or just.. not nice about it gives people anxiety which leads to.. you guessed it, drama.

It's not like anyone is saying you aren't right.. you're totally right about the jackstands issue. you just gotta work on the delivery so that it doesn't scare off novice people who think we're meanies :P

There are ramps made for people like you, but they're very expensive last I checked. here's one site that carries them:

I never bothered with ramps because you always need to have a jack and stands, to do anything like rotating tires and stuff. It would be convenient to use ramps when just changing the oil I guess, but I always rotate my tires when I change the oil anyway.

Plus ramps are kinda bulky.. 4 jack stands under the car give you tons of room to roll around on a creeper to get at just the right angle to snake your arm to the oil filter without burning yourself on the cat

Yea it'd be nice to have ramps just for a quick and easy jacking up for something like an oil change, radiator flush, etc.

Now that we're on topic of jacking up cars .. is there a spot under our cars from which we can jack up both sides at once? I find it very tedious to jack up the front left, front right, back left, back right .. etc. as opposed to just a front and rear.

Yeah there's a very good spot in the front. It's the beam that the front motor mount attaches to, and it's just in front of the motor mount. It's shaped just right for the large cup of a jack. The one for the rear is where the lateral suspension links come together.

I'll see if I can dig up pics as I know I gotta have some

of course none of these work with the stock jack

question: the circular lump that is the front jacking position...when i jacked my car up using that point, it lifted the driver side of the car higher than the passenger side. thats because it is off-center. it made me weary that the passenger side of the car would fall to the ground if i jacked it up too high. and when i lowered the car i was afraid the passenger side suspension was gonna sit a little tilted due to the angle at which it touched the ground. are my worries unfounded? thanks

You raise the car, put the jack stands on the sides, then lower it down.. at that point, it sits evenly.

I've been getting a squeal on the front brakes for the last couple of days (started with the driver's side, then yesterday started the passenger side). Figured 1 of the spring clips had worked itself loose, or it was my squealers. The fact that it was doing it during normal driving kinda puzzled me tho (like, not while I was braking). Yesterday took the brakes apart and the bottom slider pin was almost bone dry, so that side wasn't retracting all the way and was rubbing the rotor. Well **** lol. They're pretty much at the end of the line anyway, so after I move in to the new house (closing Nov. 7th, very excited ) and have a garage, that will be 1 of the first things I do. The rotors are about done too. They could probably be turned another time, but they're usually cheap enough that it's not worth even worrying about it. In the meantime, I just bent the squealer back out of the way so it would STFU
