probably safer than my ****. I found one of the front brake spring clips chillin on the bench in my garage a couple weeks ago.

congrats on the house maff! having a garage is just so damn nice. when I graduate and relocate out of the country i'm definitely buying my house based mainly on how nice the garage is. then of course. installing a lift

p.s. I'd be posting more today but I took the wrong laptop to campus --the one that after a kernel update last night can't see half of the PCI bus.

I sure am getting used to the keyboard on this new phone and thankfully it has wifi so browsing doesn't take ages.

how's that unsafe? I know my brakes still have some life to them, so it's not really a big deal. Knowing is half the battle

they're not really necessary. They just keep the pads from rattling on the rotor when you're off the brakes

Thanks. I doubt I'll be putting a lift in this one lol. Probably the next one. However, a big 2 car garage (single door) with a couple sets of jack stands and a good jack is almost as good

Neato!

Indeed congrats on the new house. For me, post-bubble DC first-time homebuying is pure ftl. $0.5M buys you crap.

Rochester downtown ftw! 60k gets you a 3 bedroom house from the 1800s (renovated. new windows, steel roof, new appliances) with a nice little backyard with a large 1 car garage

I looked into buying but there was to much risk when only owning the house for 3-5 years. The mortgage payment would definitely have been a little less though.

Renting works well... as soon as I get my diploma I can flee Rochester and never come back. Should be done here after this summer if all the courses I need in the spring are offered.

I hope my car still has a chassis after this winter lol

my new blizzaks from tirerack arrived at the shop today. can't wait to get them mounted so I can hold off mounting the winter wheels until the last possible minute.

p.s. sorry about any typos still adjusting to this phone keyboard. I'm compiling a custom kernel right now to try and get wifi back up and running.

That's what I thought when I was in gradschool so I passed on the opportunity. In the meantime, home values more than doubled. =(

CTt3P5 is an unknown quantity at this point
Not today but on Saturday I drove to the Boston area to meet up with some fellow Mazda enthusiasts. She got a wash, wax, coolant flush, new battery, plugs and coil packs.

I really wish there was more I could do about reckless driving. Rochester drivers are some of the laziest pieces of sh*t I have ever encountered in my life, but what just happened really makes me question the dumb f*cks who live here.

I was driving south on mount hope ave (click for map).. it's one lane on each side, a busy but small road bordered on one side by Mt Hope Cemetery and on the other side by Highland Park (I live just south of Highland park, and yes I can see the Cemetery from my front yard). It's a 30mph zone, as is anything within city limits other than the Inner Loop and other highways. Some idiot (not a kid.. like an older dude) in a green old POS boat Pontiac Bonneville was riding my *** as I was going 39mph in said 30 zone. He was closer than I'd be.. if I was at a stop light behind someone. I very, very lightly tapped the brakes, just enough to light up the brake lights. I then maintained that speed, and the f*cker swerves to the right (trying to pass me on the far-too-small-to-do-that shoulder, then brakes and swerves to the other side (I'm shocked he didn't clip my rear bumper) and tries to pass me --of course downtown, there's NO passing.

Meanwhile, there's an AMBULANCE coming down the road (not in an emergency.. but still --very large vehicle), followed by a few cars and a school bus. He gets to the point where his front door is next to mine and I hit the brakes, he swerves MUCH too sharply to the right (his car was perpendicular travelling in front of my car), jumps over the curb and hits the cemetery fence. I continue on my way, just hoping to make it home safely (less than a quarter mile from my house at this time).

OH NO, he's not done yet! He's back on my ***, with little to no damage to his front bumper (he was nearly stopped when he hit the fence. Luckily there was no one on the side walk he ploughed over. I turned onto the street before mine, just in case he followed me. I quickly got down a block to my house (there's a small, one lane access road that gets me there), and slip the car into the garage. As I'm walking up my driveway, I hear that distinct pontiac "can I make it another mile" grunt, and past my house at about 50mph flies the car. I've been home as long as it took to write this post, and he has driven by three times. He's definitely looking for me, but for what.. stupid f*cker

I called the non-emergency police line (yes it's programmed into my phone, there's one neighbor that we are always calling the police on for well.. what looks like selling drugs in the street right in front of my house, plus extremely loud rap music at 2 in the morning, 20 ganster dudes hangin in the street for hours making no one feel safe living here, etc) and they said "Well, there's really nothing we can do about it unless he actually hit your car or you can find the car parked somewhere with the driver in it" --WTF?? I understand it's the City of Rochester, second highest crime rate in the state (behind Buffalo.. yeah all parts of NYC are way safer) -- so they have better things to do, but is there seriously NOTHING?

p.s. NY plate #APB-8764 (managed to snag it the third time he drove by).

Well that's Kansei's "WHY THE HELL ARE PEOPLE SO BRAINDEAD IN ROCHESTER" rant of the day. It's hilarious kinda.. even when I'm at school it's obvious when you find someone who is from Rochester, because they're dumb sh*ts and you have to wonder how they haven't flunked out yet.

k vent over.

wow thats freakin nuts. having a garage is definitely good for hiding.
I had a similar situation yesterday, the street to my campus is one lane each way, with a guard rail on both sides because its goes over a drawbridge. I was already doing 45 in a 35 and this f150 a student from my college just cruised right up and passed me on the left doing 60...there wasnt any on coming traffic which was good but with the close quarters any time theres an accident it stops all traffic for a couple hours. I was atleast able to give him the as he was driving by. It just so happens that this morning going to class there was a speed trap there I think our cops have really short radar guns because I was doing 45 and I know they could see me. Not that I mind not getting a ticket.

Damn man, sorry to hear that. Guy sounds like a psycho. So the neighbors across your street still give you problems? Do they park that hoopdie with the 22s in front of your house still?

That Caddy is honestly the nicest thing they ever park in front of my house.. the other cars being a 'twin cam' Saturn with 0 muffler and a 2002-ish galant that has just two hubcaps (which don't match) and every single panel is dented or smashed. It's also been missing a taillight for upwards of 6 months, how they haven't been pulled over I have no clue.

the spinners are gross but the car/paint is in EXCELLENT condition .. I mean look, it even has curb feelers!

Today I dropped off my car to get my new motor mounts installed, and
my mechanic got sick at work and now I won't have my car till Thursday night
probably. This after a month of waiting already...

Garages FTW. I did without for way too many years. Only problem is that I thought my gf and I had an understanding that the garage was mine while she got the house, however for some reason she thinks she should be able to store gardening stuff in there. I mean, my garage is nearly perfect, enough room for two cars and four motorcycles plus various tools etc. She just doesn't get it (typical female control issue). I see yet another storage shed in the backyard in the future...
