craftsman sells some pretty shitty torque wrenches.. trust me :P they do sell nice ones too though, but the one I got for like 75 dollars is gaaaarbage.

does it matter which one I get?
They're both oem belts, just different part numbers because they are by different makers.

The 'click' type one, not the eyeball-o-meter ones.

well i dont need perfect accuracy just enough to get my lugs on w/o being too tight. my friend got a 25 buck one from pepboys (i think the same one just the price went down) and it seems to work fine.

also, drove a tc today, and noticed somethin. does anyone else have a hard time gettin their car into 1st gear if you arent stopped or almost stopped? if i'm not stopped or almost, it is hard to get into gear. once stopped it goes in fine....

Once in a blue moon I do a little 1st gear engine braking--mine drops into 1st with just a little more resistance. Probably has something to do with the synchros--rev matching will likely help it drop in.

Today I did something I hoped to never have to do to my 3rd gen. I took my P5 to a body shop to get an estimate. The repair will cost $561. I came out of the store yesterday to find that some tool had run into the front end of my car, actually went up on my bumper cover and stopped just short of the hood. The shop said they won't have to replace the bumper cover, that they can re-paint this one.

There was no note, and nobody saw anything. I have no idea who did this. I didn't pay much attention to who was parked in front of me. I think I remember seeing a dark blue or green Chevy pickup. But I can't be sure. I guess the damage could have been a lot worse, since nothing is broken. Only scratched paint. But to me it's a big deal. I don't even drive it in the winter because I don't want any rock chips. I admit that I am **** about my car, but damn it, it's my car.

I took pictures, but the damage doesn't really show up with my crappy camera. My friends say I shouldn't even bother with getting it fixed. But since my deductible is only $100, it's worth it to me to fix it. Glad I have full coverage.

This is the best picture I can get. I tried to circle where the damaged paint is. The rest of the datk spots on the bumper cover are dead bugs that I haven't washed off.

Er, I'll blame it on the camera because... yeh... looks pretty normal to me, even with the circles :/

is it down to the primer/plastic? if not, you may be able to use a little more aggressive compound, and buff that out.

Don't use torque wrenches to undo bolts! Go to harbor freight and spend $4 on a good breaker bar.

What a jerk. He could have at least cracked the bumper cover so you could replace it with an MSP unit. Some people are so inconsiderate.

whoa whoa a torque wrench is not made to stand up to breaking bolts loose at all. You'll definitely break the crap out of it using it to get the crank pulley bolt off. You either need a long breaker bar or an impact driver.
