I did something to my protege today!!!!

I traded that beeiatch in for a audi A4. It's the 3.0L 220hp and I have full access to parts!! I'll post pics tomorrow. For those that want to know it's gold too like the protege.

I think you might have made a big mistake mate. I was looking at trading my P5 in for the SAME car (see here) 3.0 Quattro and I decided against it. I joined an Audi forum and did a buncha research, read a lot of user reviews and everywhere I looked all I found were electrical problems left and right, a/c condensers going out, fuel pump replacements, and a buncha other problems that Audi did nothing about.

I think it's a fantastic car, but the reliability just didn't seem to be there. Whereas the P5 has given me zero problems in the last three years .. I just couldn't bring myself to let it go. I hope I was wrong though, because if the car is not as big of a POS as what I found out online I would still like to trade it in someday.

Anyway, enjoy the Audi man. Euro cars are incredibly comfy, and the 220HP V6 should definitely be a good improvement over the 130HP P5 engine. Enjoy .. and keep us informed on how everything comes along.

it's still under dealer warranty too............. Once that goes , in another 56k miles, I will worry about that stuff. I called audi yesterday and confirmed all the parts I wanted would have no affect to the warranty.

Besides once I save the money for the total power package, from hks, I should be out of warranty anyway. If not i got a plan~

Yeah, my camera sucks. Trust me, the front bumper was nearly pristine before. Now it's scratched to ****. The license plate frame is kinda smashed on one side also. I think it took the brunt of the damage. The only reason I even posted the pic was because I knew that someone here would want to see pics, lol.

just installed SLS gauge rings. couldnt tell if they were polished or brushed, was hoping for brushed. when they arrive they were polished but i put them in anyway. pics to come.

how are those yellow fogs workin out? i installed some yellow ion fogs a while back and i didnt know at the time that yellow "ion" bulbs were only distinctive (yellowish-rainbow) when viewed at different angles. head-on, they look like stock bulbs.

So far all I can say is they're slightly brighter and yellower than the stock bulbs...I guess they're not bad at $6/pop.

You upgraded the wiring for that right? I know you did with your headlight wiring..

post pics since we all know pictures of car headlights are totally accurate representations of the light output and colour temperature of the lights haha

all i have to say is BE CAREFUL with over wattage bulbs in the fogs - i had high wattage yellow bulbs in my fogs, and one of them cracked last winter because of the heat they created. i drove through a snow drift, and the rapid cooling of the glass caused it to shatter.

I tried to install new rear struts today, but gave up after fighting with the main strut bolts for about an hour. That **** would just NOT break loose .. no matter how much leverage I put on it. So I sprayed the hell out of it with PBlaster and I plan on getting back to it this weekend. If it decides to finally let go a bit, I should have a nice tutorial to contribute towards the How-To section.

Which are the 'main bolts'? The ones on top or bottom? I'd imagine you're talking about the bottoms. I didn't have any problem with mine. Where are you located? Salt belt?

Yep .. salt belt it is. I drive my car in the winter so everything gets pretty crusty down there, and it makes replacing anything the biggest pain in the *** in the world.

The "main" bolts I'm talking about are the two 17mm ones on the bottom of the strut. The top was relatively easy to take care of, but there is one 14mm bolt on top that's gonna be pretty hard to get to without removing all the plastic panels.

I figured you were talking about the bottoms.

Honestly, just take the panels out. It's not that big a deal and will make your life WAY easier.
