it's oh so fun

I just got back from the grocery store .. ok so the car isn't that slow but like.. people tried to race me and I just.. I couldn't even just pull on them off the line, it just didn't have the powa

I'm definitely going to drop the downpipe off at my favorite welder in rochester .. but probably not until mid-week sometime cuz I'll be too busy at work to get it over there (from work to there and back is ~1.5 hours).

at least I don't have to ride my bike to work all week! I am leaving my bike on my bike rack all week though, after doing such major surgery on the car I don't want to get stranded anywhere :P

If I wanted straightline speed, I would have gotten a mustang and grown my hair long in the back.

So no more Protege fun for you? I guess I've been out of the loop.

no worries.. every 6 months I think about getting a miata and never fully go through with it. Closest I've gotten is readying my bank account, getting an insurance quote, test driving, having them inspect my car (lawl no one will accept my car as a trade-in just because of how much has been replaced on the car), etc.

Josh I don't think it's twilight blue. Wasn't that a 1999 color? It's an 03, and I honestly think it's midnight blue even though to me it looks nothing like the Protege5 midnight blue.

Oh, so you're putting it back to N/A to trade? Sounds good. I've never driven a Miata, but I imagine it's pretty fun

No no, not to trade.. though it might happen, but trust me the car is still quite modded under the hood, enough that no dealer in their right mind would accept it as a trade. I don't have the stock exhaust manifold anymore so I can't actually put it back to stock on a whim (I did this on purpose). I put it back to N/A because it was shooting flames under the hood and caught my radiator hose on fire and that was unpleasant. That reminds me, I have video of the madness on my phone that I need to put on youtube (it's cell phone **** video though)..

Do you get a text message alert whenever someone mentions Miatas in a protege5 thread? lol

The only miata I've driven extensively is a red 1990 with the 1.6 and it was awesome fun, and really didn't seem underpowered. I'm just saying that it would be seen as quite the downgrade from my P5 (I'd be trading) but sometimes a car gets to the point where you just want to get far, far away from it, you know?

Is the foglight-less bumper on the 99-00 the same bumper as the one with fogs? I wouldn't mind getting a 'lesser' 99 model if it was upgradable. I know the skin looks the same, and I wouldn't be afraid of drilling holes as it kinda looks like the fogs are in cups.. or are said cups a part of the skin? Those wheels look killer on a Miata, I wasn't sure if I would like them on an NB but yup.. still looks great
