What parts are ford on our cars?

I'm talking specifically about a P5, but I'm sure they are pretty much the same across the 3rd gen line.

Thanks,
Jeff

Arrow Nothing.

This has been covered before in other threads. Common consensus is that only a seat belt retractor part is Ford sourced. *Everything* else is totally Mazda.

yup, and IIRC, 98% of the car's components are made by Japanese suppliers and the car is built in Japan...

I don't think the window switches are, just because of the fact that any Ford you hop into has totally different style switches; wheras the ones in our Protege are the same kind found in other Japanese vehicle, where you have to pull up to roll up the window.

who cares?

BTW just because the part may be manufactured by the same company that supplies ford, it doesn't make it a ford part. bosch and nippon denso make the electronics for 90% of all the cars in the world. if mazda uses the same nippon denso injectors as ford does that make it a ford or mazda part? no, it makes it a nippon denso part.

Everything that stops running or breaks on the car will be Ford's fault. Mazda is prefect! heeehee!

WHEW!! I was dead set on picking up a SVT Focus but the wife would have castrated me for buying a "Ford". Don't regret my decision at all, there have been quite a few problems with them. I did test drive one (actually, the one I ordered) & it did drive pretty nice but the seatback tilt lever also popped right out into my hand.

I was comparing sidemarkers the other day when I happened upon a newer Cougar. For some reason, the amber side markers are the exact same size and shape as the ones on the P5. Could this also be another Ford part? or did it just come from the same parts bin?

the faces MAY be the same or close....you would need to pop one off and see if the BACK was the same too.

I don't really care, but I was curious. I see that the b&m shifter appears to be the same model for the mp3/mp5 and the focus, so it made me wonder.
