Question What price did you pay?

I just purchased a Protege5. I am very happy with the car so far, 98 miles, but I was a little upset when someone told me they were offered the same car plus: moon roof, roof rack, chrome exhaust, and auto for $15500.00 out the door.

My immediate response was that you don't really know how much its going to cost until the final papers are signed, but it did start my wondering. I hate buying new cars for this very reason.

I found this club while looking for info on what others have paid for their Protege5. Unfortunately, I never found anything.

It seem like something anyone that owns one or looking to buy would want to know, but of coarse the dealers don't want that. I sent an email to the club asking if it is alright to start such a discussion, but no answer yet. So if I'm violating some policy? Sorry! If you would rather not know, stop reading now!

I paid $15788.87 out the door for a protege5 on 9/20/03. Base model with Manual trany + ABS and side air bags+ subwoofer with 13 miles. Mazda was offering a $2250.00 rebate until 9/30/03. Tax and license in Phoenix, Az was $1593.87 which is in the out the door price.

What did you pay?

I understand that one of the problems with asking this question is that I'm just as likely to get dis-information from those that are selling, but I don't care because my deal is done.

So this is to help others!

3,000 miles in 9 months is driving it into the ground?

My 80 year old grandmother puts more miles on her Lincoln than that.

I just got my new P5 this afternoon. It was a demo car so it already has 4800 miles on it. But since it was a demo...it was fully loaded. THe only thing I didn't get was the roof rack. I walked out paying 15851.

My 03 P5 was 16K but I got it at 0%, the sales guy told me he could come down another 1500 if I took a "low" rate, but I'm happy.

I don't have my P5 anymore...but last December I paid ~$18,000 total - that was with no options (5-spd) 'cept for cargo liner and cargo net.
