I forget the exact numbers but it was 18,000. Then I got it down to 15,000 and that's when they sucked me into buying the "Low Jack" security system for 3,000. So it was 18K in the end. Oh and then 2 months after I bought some lady rear ended me . She didn't leave enough stopping distance between us. she was just lucky I didn't have the Jeep that day

I bought my P5 in Dec 2001 for $16,500us with 0% financing for 5 years.
It's loaded with everything but the polished blingbling wheels(got my own) and leather.

I think I'm gonna be the winner!
Brand new 2003 P5 base manual tranny + moonroof/6disc
Out the door = $12,700 + tax + financing
That includes Mazda rebates, dealer rebates, recent college grad, and hard negotiating.
I had been shopping for a P5 at that dealer since June, and took delivery on Dec. 31 (I'm sure that is a factor in my good price).

the price was great on the car, until you added in the upside-down-ness of the trade-in, but the car was 'loaded' and i wanted it. lots of $ spent on goodies for it too....guess i won't be selling her anytime soon

$10,995 for a used 2003 Pro LX with less than 15k miles and the base equipment with 15" wheels and keyless. Used Proteges are hard to find around here. Especialy in silver. Plus I only have one Mazda dealer within a 60 mile radius.

My P5 cost me over 20 grand loaded, tax included. But that's only part of the story. Add in the cost of everything you've ever bolted on to your Protege, then open up Kelley Blue Book. Depressing, isn't it? On second thought, never add it up. Just drive it and enjoy it, with the realization that there are many, many cars costing twice as much that are not nearly as much fun to drive. And, there are lot of people who paid a lot less for a Kia, but that doesn't necessarily make them smart shoppers, does it?
