What's with the ebay chips?

What's with the ebay chips?
Ok, I know the chips are pointless, and do more damage than anything else. What I don't get, is why do these sellers get crazy good feedback?

Do you actually get a boost, or feel a change with these sensor mods? Can it really be just in everyone's head?
Since they never do, does anyone know what they do exactly?
I'm not looking into buying one, I know better, just curious.

It's because the people who buy those things are so clueless that they probably never even install them. They get it shipped quickly and give the guy feedback before the chip ever touches their car.
eh, maybe not. Nevermind.
As long as we all agree that it's just a $.25 cent resistor from Radioshack.

Yep, it's just a resistor in fancy packaging. I would guess that you are correct for many of the people who left positive feedback. I know I have left positive feedback before using some of the stuff I have bought on ebay, just because it arrived quickly. But I would say that the placebo effect is also at work here. They are told that they will have more power so they think that they really do feel it. Like when you were a kid and you just got new sneakers, and thinking that you can run faster and jump higher.

Of course it feels faster if you're driving it harder, haha.
I wonder how many people buy this junk and cause damage to their engines. You almost feel sorry, until you realize they are the kind of people who believe that they can add 15 horsepower for $25 bucks.
