Wind deflector rubbing away paint

Wind deflector rubbing away paint
The wind deflector for the sun roof was rubbing away the paint from the top of my car. I took it off to wax the car and noticed that the rubber gasket had separated and the plastic deflector was slowly scratching the paint away. There was also some abbrasion where the rubber was still intact.
This wouldn't be an issue if the rubber wasn't wearing away since I planned to keep the deflector on for the life of the car. However, the rubber did split and if the problem was not fixed, eventually I would have bare metal on my roof leading to rust and eventually a hole.
My car is still under warranty so my dealer will take care of it, but now my confidence is shot in the deflector. I like the way it looks and the fact that it dramatically reduces wind noise at highway speeds, but don't want a hole in my roof. Perhaps I will add several layers of that clear saran wrap type stuff people are using instead of nose bras.
Any one else have this problem? By the way, the wind deflector is an option and not everyone has it.

Holy crap! That exact thing is happening to me as we speak. Just last week I removed it (deflector) and low and fricking behold, I have a little line getting sawed into my clearcoat. Mine hasn't reached the paint yet and I don't plan on letting it. As soon as I saw it I removed it and am calling the shop today. It is a good thing this accesory is authorized with the warranty. At least I am not the only one, damn conspiracies.....
