How do you know when it's 3000? It resets itself every 1000 Mi.

Our Honda shows both but it is kind of weird. It always shows the trip ones, but you have the option of whether to show the odometer or the outside temperature. It's not an issue with maintenance because they have a little idiot light that comes on every maintenance interval. I'm just glad they included instructions on how to turn the damn thing off if you don't get the dealer to service it. I would rather be able to see both at once, but I really like the little GM Infocenter thing you get on their Sierra and Suburban's, you can see all kinds of crap on that one.

you lucky bastards i don't have a tripA and tripB. I only have trip and odo. Man i don't think i'm ever gonna get a first run car again. Too many variables that change the next year.

For example i've got the POS 1.6L when i could've waited a year or two for the standard 1.8L or 2L. Not to mention got a manual.

Our 99 Xterra has almost the same odometer, trip a/b, odo, and only one displays at a time.

Like farsyde said, I only have one trip. So be happy you have two

I always got a kick out of the old Honda mechanical "service lights" that went from green to yellow to red, and you reset by pushing the key into a slot. Ridiculously complex answer to the question no one asked.

but don't you lose track of how many times it resets if you switch to another trip or back to ODO?

Not quite as bad on the new ones, but still a little bit of a pain in the ***. I don't remember how to do it, and I don't have the manual handy but it can all be done pretty easily. I think it is nice for normal people who don't car about their cars. Makes them want to get it serviced.

I've used to that 'cos my last car (98 Corolla) did the same. It shows either ODO, Trip A, or Trip B. However I do miss the outside temp gague
