My brother-in-law has the Accord V6 coupe - the one with the triangular taillights. Very sweet car, IMO - Honda or not. He's got no mods, but if I were to consider a Honda, that would be the one.
BTW - I met a guy (at the shop that did my tint) with a brand new Civic Si hatchback. After unknowingly insulting him by saying I didn't like the looks of it, or the baby-**** greenish paint (I didn't know it was his car while I was talking to him about it), he said he just ordered a supercharger that will make it a 9 second 1/4 mile car - I looked at him funny, but this was not some punk kid - he was totally serious. Should I believe that? 9 seconds from a 4 cylinder with no NOS? Sounds a little far-fetched to me, when Vette's are sub 12 second cars stock.
And Gro- totally agree with the CRX - I used to want one of those SO badly. Buddy of mine had one custom triple black, sweet 17's, amazing system, engine and clutch mods - this car was so freakin clean and fast, it made me drool. But of course, he wrecked it. Fool.

Ok, so you say that you stereotype drivers because of how they drive. YOU ******* IDIOT! YOU ADMITTED TO DRIVING JUST AS FAST TO KEEP UP! YOU WERE JUST LIKE HIM! He got a little more crazy, but the fact is you are the biggest hippocrite that i have read on here so far. You said you followed a fair distance apart? Then how did he know you were trying to keep up? IDIOT! And you said he used both lanes swerving all around and then you said it didnt work? So you did the same following him and were still with him thats why it didnt work? MORON!
<blah> </blah>
So this car, that is lighter, faster, and better engineered than yours (Sorry, i love my Protege, but it is a fact) couldnt get away from you? Either he sucks at driving, was playing with you....or you are lying. Either was you should shut up.

Did I pass people on the wrong side of the road across double lines? (tip: don't answer that one neither).......
So to conclude, did I drive as dumb as him? (tip: look up first two tips)
PS. Who says that his car is better engineered then mine? Don't assume things, and I won't assume that you're an idiot. Should I assume that you don't drive a Protege, and have no life but to go on other boards and talk some non-sense?

usually those who drive imports ARE jerk-offs. the same can be said too for domestics in my neck of the woods. its all about goin' straight and turnin' left. how boring....i wont even begin to compare NASCRAP w/ Formula 1.....
& lets dont forget the ricer fly-bys......

Imports v Domestics
It is funny to see how pissed off people get about this topic. I'll always be a Japanese car lover (Mazda Loyalty) and could never picture myself buying any of the domestic turn key "sporty" cars such as the Mustang, Camaro etc...but I think it's all about driver attitude and preference.
Sure there are stereotypes about the Mustang, Camaro, and Civic drivers. But I believe there are always some truths to stereotypes. A few bad apples ruin the bunch, like it or not. While there may be that minority who drive the three cars above that couldn't give a **** about being a bad *** b/c of the car they drive, the fact is it always seems to be drivers of these three cars that are the least curteous and most jack-assed drivers cause they think their car is the **** and can handle everything they throw it at.
While the Mustang and Camaro may have decent straight line performance, I don't find them exciting at all. I don't get kicks from a turn-key medium range "sport car" like these, especially when considering poor build quality, resale, and reliabilty.
I've driven several generations of Vettes and I have to agree that the latest iteration has it almost right (minus the poor GM switchwork.) It reminded me honestly of NSX's I've driven. I've driven many different cars being a former Valet in Tampa...everything from your moms Honda to a right-hand drive Diablo, so I think I can be a fair judge.
I think there is something much more special and rewarding in taking cars with half the displacement, half the cylinders, and a lower in the seat cost and turning it into the perfect sleeper. All while retaining resale value, economy, and if done right, a lower visibilty to police. It's easy to buy a fast car you didn't put any effort into. But all you do is buy someone elses idea of sports car. To me, a true car nut turns the mundane car into the exciting. I think Import lovers are the best examples of these.
Just remember fellow Pro drivers. Know your ****. Don't completely diss the domestic makers. They do have good and bad points. AND JUST FYI, THAT LOVELY ECU IN YOUR PROTEGE IS A FORD PROCESSOR!!

You know what, NegatiZE - that's really not very funny.
Has a "retarded" person ever made fun of you? No? Wanna know why?
Not becuase they can't - It's because they don't give a ****, and don't feel the need to, that's why.
Keeping lifting yourself up by putting down others - it's a great way to live.

Ford Processor?
Our Pros have a Ford processor in them for the ECU? I can't say for sure, but I wouldn't expect this to really be true, as Ford is an auto manufacturer, not a microchip manufacturer. If anything, they contract out to have someone else make the chips for them, and they send them to Mazda. In fact, given Japan's high-tech strengths, I wouldn't be surprised if those "Ford" chips were made in Japan. At any rate, that being said, isn't the ECU part of the problem with our Pros making that damn engine click at ~2500 rpm when the engine's cold? Maybe you're right! Maybe the chip really IS a Ford part... no wonder.
But this is just a theory on my part... I'm not saying I'm right.
Anyway, people should be allowed to drive what they want and not face undue criticism-- I respect that. But I really dislike domestic (U.S.) makes. The reason for this is they've earned their reputation for shitty quality. All through the late 70's, and all the 80's, American autos sucked maggot ridden rank dead rats *** puss in quality and realiablity, and they still lag behind the best Japanese makes.
I dare any of you to put your American car against a Toyota in the same cost level. I dare you!! Follow manufacturer's recommended service only, drive each car the same way, and you'll find that over time your American car requires MORE service, and you'll see more things go wrong, than in the Toyota. It's as simple as that, and I won't accept anything but the best in reliability. Ever. I don't care how fast your (<opinion> gay-***) Camaro is.
I respectfully venture my strong willed opinion...

YES! Ford makes the ECU for your car. Ford owns a large portion of Mazda and they share alot of technology/components. My first gen protege for example shares the same platform/engine (in the LX's) with the Ford Escort GT. Same holds tru of the B2000/Ranger, Escape and Tribute.
My brother has done the complete Sports 20/FSZE engine swap to his 2000 ES. We have taken the ECU out cause we are trying to get a custom ECU burned for the FSZE engine an lo and behold, it's a Ford processor. It is really true. I do know my **** when it comes to these ******* cars. I'm the #1 stunna. Part of the reason these companies buy each other up is to consolidate/share production techniques and technologies.
It is not wise from a business perspective to have completely different parts bins...this is how they (Ford/Mazda) save money and production costs while maximizing profit b/c they have less R&D to edure. While Ford and Mazda have kept the Marketing/Design houses for their products seperate, underneath it all is where the meat meets the bone.

Weird, Wacky Shtuff
Indeed, I've known about the Ford/Mazda partnership (i.e. Ford owned) for years. My understanding is that Mazda was placed mostly in charge of Ford's small car division, including small car engine development. That's why the Escort shared many components with Mazda vehicles, and, in fact, many of the Escort's parts were flat out designed by Mazda. That's why it was a decent car in terms of reliability.
I don't doubt "you've got the skeelz" regarding knowing about these things, but you're sure Ford actually made the chip? You mean they have their own silicon chip stamping facility? Curious!
Anyway, in somewhat of an unrelated note, I'm glad to have the understanding that Mazda is pretty much solely the one that designed the Mazda6-- I belive that will bode well for this new car's build quality and reliability. If after a year of data has been collected regarding this car's reliability demonstrates that it indeed has held up well... I want one! (If only for the money to do so... )

Just my smartass additional comment here but most fabs (that is places that build microchips) are not in Japan. They are in Taiwan, the US, and the EU. And whether its good or bad almost all of them are designed in the United States by companies like Intel and Motorola (there are a lot of companies out there that copy these designs too but most designs are sourced from a large corporation, this is where the 555 counter chip came from). The Japanese just have a cool desire to slap all of the latest and greatest stuff into some of the weirdest things, which is why most of the cool consumer gadgets migrate over from there.
