You think Mazda (or any car company) actually manufactures EVERY single part in their cars?

Mitsubishi parts in a Mazda? No way!!!
Well actually it's likely. Like other have said, some auto makers have divisions within them that produce components for themselves or others. They may even produce products entirely non auto related. It's hard to consider automobile manufacturers as actual manufacturers anymore. They more closely resemble assemblers. A majority of their components are either completly designed or spec'd in house then sent out for bidding from outside manufacturers to get the best cost. Many of them actually share parts to get a better price break. GM and Ford are supposed to start working on a new transmission design that they can BOTH use. They share design costs, increased volume lowers production costs and the savings are passed to their pockets.

I had a '76 Toyota Celica Hatchback and I was helping a friend work on his Triumph TR7 and what did I see but the same exact set of front brake calipers. Hmm, the conspiracy continues, there is only ONE car company in the world and it's just different divisions.
