your opinion on Cold Air Intakes
I was looking at injen CAI ones but they cost quite bit $250+.
So I went on ebay and they are people selling CAI's for $60-$70.
I'm not an expert on this subject of course,
but are injen ones really worth the cost?
Its just a pipe with a filter on the end? Like what I mean is, say I get those $60 cai's and just put a good K&N filter on it, would it not be the same?
any experience on these cheaper CAI's?
Thanks guys!

It depends what engine you got?
MOst of the time the injen is better but not nearly enough to merit the price. If you have the 1.6 then there is some ebay intake that causes a stutter at 3k rpm a nono.
The injens have much more r and d put into them so if there could be a problem they have fixed it. What it really comes down to is the filter. The ebay filter suck while an injen is very nice. Then again you can get the ebay intake and then just go to pepboys and grab a nice filter for $10.

That one doesn't look like it has all the necessary parts.

Those all look like valid systems. I'd go with one of those for ~$60

I went the e-bay way!!!! and it works bad ***. From what I have heard the tend not to send all of the rubber parts. I had to go find the cupplings, 10.00s. I got mine in and tottal was 70.00, sounds great too!

I'm getting the K&N set-up from procarparts.com. I bought some clear corner lights from them, and the service I received was awesome. They shipped quick, packaged great, and you can't beat the price.

One thing to think about. A number of people on this forum have installed the E-Bay CAI, and many have had good results with it. Others have installed this intake, and have experienced rough idle and CEL. I installed an AEM SRI, and though it was more expensive (and the gain was no doubt less than a genuine CAI), there was a notcieable gain without any hiccups. The AEM intakes do work well (I've had them on several cars now), and best of all the construction, quality, and fit and finish are all quite good.

I got my intake this weekend and installed it in about 40 min. That's complete from gathering tools, dissasembly of stock air boxes, bullsh*t time with the buddies and installation of the new intake. I had a little trouble with the coolant resevoir (the pipe I bought wasn't quite the angle I was looking for) but it worked. Sounds real mean now too. I'll try to get a pic on here soon.
Oh yeah, no problems either. I've heard of some having idle probs and stumbling about 3 grand on the tach, but this one runs smooth through it all.
