Ziel motorsports 01 Protege...
I'm looking at my new Super Street mag that came today, and on page... ok, there are no god damn page numbers. But about three pages into the "Viva la SEMA" section, there's a nice '01 Protege by Ziel Motorsports that says it has JIC drag suspension, Serrano racing intake manifold, DTA engine management, and several engine upgrades such as Saenz rods and Webcam cams. I wish they had some more info on this car. But it's really cool to see a Protege in every magazine i've picked up over the past few months. We're getting noticed finally! Aftermarket, here we come!

I have a picture of that car...

and there are a few others in my "Nice Rides" folder right around that pic.

i really don't like hearing the drag race bashing. it's just as much of a sport as any form of racing. granted i don't care for nascar too much, and i'm sure a lot of you consider it a redneck sport, but realize that those cars maintain over 200mph at almost all times, and that's a nice accomplishment. "driving in a straight line isn't a challenge..." maybe not if your car runs 15s, but if you have a 9 second car it's a little more challenging. and building a drag car is just as demanding as any type of car. so bite me to all the nay sayers!

<Drag racing for one requires good launch and shifting skills pretty much. All the other stuff are unimportant. >
not true. the suspesion actually needs to be tuned and the engine and transmission settings are much more important than in other forms (IMHO) also in drag racing auto trannies are actually a good thing sometimes.

I like all forms of motorsports, whether it be drag racing, autox, rally, drifting, whatever. Drag racing does take some sort of skill to do even if you have a slow car. It's very hard to get a .5 r/t. Heads-up races, it doesn't matter about shifting, and all as much as with handicapped races. You've gotta hit your dial-in time and launching (most important) shifting good and knowing your car are required. I'm sure there are other more 'challenging' motorsports out there, just don't bash it. Why make a school bus (the short bus) pull 13's? I don't freaking know, but I've seen it done at the drag strip.

i think it's ironic that the short bus ran the 13's. we have an old volvo wagon down here that runs a low 11. if you guys that don't like drag racing had your way, the protege would still have only 88hp. drag racing is basically the measurement that every magazine uses to measure a cars "performance" so if it wasn't enjoyable, the companies would see no reason to make the cars faster in a straight line. so =Þ
