I found that Pep Boyz here has both front and rear pads. I haven't changed mine yet, but I think they want about $55 for both sets total - not bad at all.
Those are not "performance" pads, of course, but so-called "performance" brake components of any kind (other than stainless flex-lines) are useless without better tires first. Hope that doesn't start the brake argument ...again.

Aight dude - tell me then:
What's wrong with them - specifically?
If they last okay, don't heat-fade like crazy, and have enough friction to lock the wheels during braking, what is so wrong with 'em?
I'm not being a dick - I just wanna know.
I've used them before (not on my Pro), with fine results.
Enlighten me - please!

goto www.mazdaformance.com and you can get the front got 60 us and the rear for 40 us. these are OEM pads. my dealer wanted 80 for the front and 60 for the rear. the Raybestos(sp?) from pep boys will last usually around 30k/40k miles of normal use before they need changed, but as long as you have your reciet and box, then you get another set for free b/c of their life time warranty. only problem is 1, the are leave a great amount of dust eventhough they say they don't. 2 they over heat easy and wear extremely fast in those cases. i worked at pep boys for a while and we didn't get complaints on them at all, its just our OEM pads are so much better. my car has 70k miles on it and i am just now getting to the warning tabs on them. but if you only got 50 bucks, then you only got 50 bucks and you have to buy what you can afford.

I still have not heard why Raybestos pads are any better or worse than any other - except for the issue of brake dust. Overheating really should never be a problem in a daily-driver car, unless you drive like a complete idiot or ride the brakes constantly.
Walight even said they never had any issues with them when he worked for Pep Boys. And lifetime warranty that replaces them when they wear out? I mean - sounds good to me.
I'm due to change pads soon. If I can get a good deal on OEMs, I'll use them, I suppose. But I still have yet to hear a compelling argument as to WHY they are superior.

i guess the only reason theywould be superior is they last longer, don't give out dust and the over heating issue...thats it. wether or not that justifies buying the oem is up to you, kinda like buying a oem oil filter vs a aftermarket filter, its all up to you. i will buy oem pads b/c i drive alot amd don't want to change pads 2 times a year.but even as a daily driver, i have to break hard in stop and go traffic and i just don't want to change brake pad failure. another example is switching from the w rated tires that come on a P5 do h or even v rated tires. they are tires, they allow the car to go, but you have to drawl the line somewhere, how much money are you willing to spend vs how long u want them to last vs how much stickyness you want out of them.
