got a brake question
Ok, i got my brake pads/extras yesterday...
i know what the "metal clips" are for and the grease, but what are the other metal things for (attached picture).
actually.. i think the "ends" might be pointed the other way... cant remember.

those are retaining clips...they basically just hold the pad steady. They clip at the top and bottom of the pad and lean in towards the center so when the caliper goes back on it applies pressure to the pad set and pushes them down towards the hub. DO NOT LEAVE THESE OUT.

I'm pretty sure what you have in the picture is the seperating clip. They ( you should have 2, one one top of the pads and on the bottom) hold the pads apart so when you let off of the breaks and the piston returns the clip (really a spring) helps the pads seperate from the rotors. Also helps keep them in place and not rattle around while driving. So PUT THEM BACK ON! LOL.

You beat me to it. But I like how we both said in bold letters to put them back on. LOL
