Ground Control Issue

Ground Control Issue
Guys and Gals,
I am having a terrible time with one of my coilovers, the front driver's side. My issue deals with the black spacer/washer that sits on top of the silver coilover cap and under the black frame that holds the bolts for attaching the system to the frame. I have made a point of lining things up when lowering the car so that everything fits as needed. However, it seems that this piece is getting crushed and causes an extreme amount of squeeking. I have replaced this piece once, but don't want to have to keep replacing it, I want to fix the issue.
What I need to know, is what could be causing this piece to break, or get crushed. When I baught the coilovers, they were VERY new and aren't the same setup being sold now. The springs are shorter on my setup. If the springs are too short, could this cause stress on that piece causing it to break? (i.e. stiffer springs not giving enough travel distance for the system) I've tried calling GC to see if they would switch out the springs once I found out they were different from what they are selling now, but they refuse. If I could prove that their setup they sold me is incorrect and it is causing this issue, I might be able to get them switched. This is not the only solution I am looking for, I just want this piece to stop breaking and squeeking. If anyone has any ideas, I appreciate it. If you also have the spring ratings for your GC springs laying around, I would appreciate that information as well. I'll look mine up when I can so we have a comparison.
Thanks again for any help/info you may provide.
