hope to cure my rattling AWR rear sway

one of the 2 spherical bearings is making alot of rattling noise on
the right rear endlink. i bought some foam grips at a local bicycle store which im hoping will help dampen some of the rattle.

i plan to make a slit down the middle of the foam grip and
wrap it on the endlink itself, plus part of the rear swaybar.
i plan to duct tape over the wrap and as a precaution even
use some tie wraps get them snuggly on there.

any other recommendations i should try? if this doesn't work,
im going to try putting some dynamat on the trunk floor near
the swaybar mount area.

come to think of it, the noise is probably coming up the strut than the swaybar, so i should put some dynamat around the rear right fender area.

I have the same problem with my 19mm AWR w/ endlinks. What I do is spray some lubrication with teflon all over the endlinks every few times each year. This gets rid of the noise, protects the endlinks and parts from rusts and gives it a good cleaning.

I live in Vancouver BC, so it rains all the time and I find the stuff I'm using lasts a long time even when it rains.

Thumbs down

is that lube something readily available at carparts stores?
im might have to try that as the foam did NOTHING to dampen
the noise. i wish they were not sphrical bearings and just
urethane bushings...

sucks dude, i can't say i like this bar anymore. noisy, rusts, etc.
but it performs well. IT BETTER!!!

I checked the lubricant that I'm using and it's call Tri-Flow with Teflon. My shop recomended it cause they use it all the time on their customers cars and it lasts a long time. It can be bought at any car shop and it works well.

Hope that helps!

Tri-flow's the ****. I've used it on my bikes for years. When the sway finally comes thats what I planned on using.

crap, i went to my local autozone and they didnt have em.

is that like a thick & rich foam lube? wonder if those lithium
lubs or even silicon lubes would work.

Just go to the hardware store. They will have Tri-Flow there. It's just a spray lube, kinda like WD-40, but so much better.

02p5- naw, so i tried shimming it...but still rattles. the noise is really a rattle metal to metal.

AWR needs to redesign the sphrical bearing to use urethane
bushings for street use.

I think it's just the design of the endlinks. I tried the skateboard pusher thing I was talking about , with no luck.

While I was down there I covered all the bushings and bolts with lithium grease, and I swear it helped. The clunk is still there, but definately not as loud or frequent. Give it a try!

i think even sound deadner spray might even work too to soften the edgy clunk noise. eitherway, im going to see if there are any Familia Swagon swaybars when i go to japan in a few months.
