i installed Eibach springs. have questions!!

I installed the Eibach springs with Tokico shocks. The Eibach lowered the car about 1.4" all the way around, but the Eibach site says that the back should be lowered 1.8" instead. I thought the car was going to be nice and level after installing the springs, but it still has that "squated " look (the front is lower than the back). I called the shop that sold me the springs and they told me that the springs only lower the back 1.2" in the back and 1.4" in the front. I really do not like the look. I wished I would have bought some GC coilovers instead. Any comments? Thanks

They most likely put the Protege5 Eibachs on your sedan. The Pro5 Eibach's lower the back 1.2 instead of the 1.8 drop on the sedan ones.

i went to the garage and checked the part number on the box. It is 5540.140. I went to the Eibach site and checked the part number. It is the correct part number. Maybe Eibach screwed up boxing the springs? Is there any other difference between the springs for the P5 and mine? What should I do? Thanks

I just put Eibach drop springs on my 2001 es sedan and that's the part number for the springs that I bought and my car is even all the way around.

well, just what I wanted to hear! Now, how do I convice the shop that Eibach screwed up???? I really do not want to pay any more money. I already paid over $1100 for the springs, shocks, labor and aligment!! So that is the ONLy difference between the P5 and sedan springs? Thanks

That's how it's supposed to be. Every place that sells the Eibachs describes that drop.

It's supposed to make the car level, which it does. You are probably used to looks at your car with a larger wheel gap in the front than the back. The Eibachs are made to make the car completely level. the wheel gaps are the same now.

BTW, 2 tenths of an inch man? Come on.

Unhappy People with Eibach springs please help me!

I still think there is something wrong with my springs. My car looks funny. I went to the dealer and took some measurements from the ground to the bottom of the fender. Here's my results:

FRONT
Stock 25-7/8"
Mine 24"

REAR
Stock 26"
Mine 24-1/2"

Could they have installed the rear springs in the front and the front ones in the rear?

Also, all 4 Eibach springs are stamped with a number. Could someone please tell me what numbers you have in the front and in the rear. The front and rear springs have different numbers, at least mine do. Someone PLEASE help me! Thanks!

By switching the front and rear springs may help balancing the height of the car but remember one thing, the spring rates are different between them so switching the springs will make your car's cornering awkward (maybe dangerous when you are cornering hard). Just a reminder.

what's the problem here???

it looks like you got a 1.875" drop in the front and a 1.5" drop which is about what is spec'ed for these springs. eibach quotes 1.4" front and 1.8" rear, which "varies by engine size and or model".

unless you are hitting the bump stops or getting some suspension noise, i'd leave well enough alone.... you pretty much got what you paid for with 'em....

sounds like everything is normal...EXCEPT ONE THING...

why did you put this thread in the ENGINE/DRIVETRAIN forum...when we have a perfectly good SUSPENSION forum?
