JIC FLT-A2's availabe. BEST FRIKIN' SUspension made for Protege
#17
I heard that Tein is releasing a "flex" coilover set for the 3rd gen protege. This is what tein used on their J-spec '02 Integra Type R. They supposedly are their best balance of handling and ride and are compatible with their electronic dampening controller. I didn't know anything else other than that, and that the flex set would not be retardly expensive
Some one on this board had a prototype Tein suspension on his P5 I believe. That was all I was comparing it to. He said the suspension would list for about $1250 without any electronic equipment.

ok I checked out the site.
http://www.tein.com/mazda.html
They do make a setup that is availalbe for the protege and p5. Not positive on what dampers are used, but because of the price I assume Type Flex which are a more entry level damper. They lower up to 1.3 to 2.1 in. in front and .7 to 1.2 in back so nothing crazy ( I am not sure if I read the site correctly on that. Kind of mis leading chart). Price is $1350. So yes these would most likely be a much more entry level true coilover setup than the JIC's. Just another option for people looking for a lower price. Oh and the EDFC, which is the DIN sized damping controller you mount on the inside of the car, is not compatible with the Pro or Pro5 most likely do to hood clearance issues.
Rishie do you carry Tein products? Just curious. Personally I am saving for the JIC's.

Have it shipped by US Parsel post and declare $700 value...I don't think Rishie would mind?

I'll help in whatever way I can.
Please do remember that this is not an entry level coilover. Hence the price. It is the top of the line inverted monotube, pillowballs inlcluded, with independent ride height and spring preload adjustments. It can be rebuilt and custom valved to your future needs.
Thanks, Rishie

I'm lookin to purchase a high end suspension setup, such as jic, but i don't have the facilities or the technical knowhow to do the install myself. I don't know of any tuning shops around me other than chain autoshops and actual mazda dealerships. Just wonderin if the intsall and setup can be trusted to one of those chains. I know the dealership would do it, but they'd take ever penny I own. Any input would help, thanks.

Hey guys, I'm back from SEMA. The show was dope and I think we had the only MP3 that was featured there. It was sweet. We saw some Protege5's but not really of my taste. Nice nonetheless.
Let's figure out where you live. If for some reason we can't find a place I can tell you exactly how to do it. You just have to be a little handy and a little confidence. REally is quite simple. I can explain the steps and let you know what tools you'll need.
Let me know what your city and state are as well as your zip code. I'll see what I can find.

Mostly because those mods have nothing to do with handling. That would be the engine and drivetrain section. A better comparison would be Turbo expense versus what you've indicated.
It may seem pricey but I don't think one can even conceptualize how incredible the handling and comfort are. If that was conceivable for you then the expense would appear miniscule.
Because I'm more of a track guy, not stop light to stop light, I've found that a low powered car with incredible handling can easily out run a powerful car with decent handling on the track.
I would easily spend my first loads of cash on a good suspension and then go from there. No matter what you do it will cost a lot to make a difference in power on the 2.0's. This however is a dramatic change.
