in market for suspension system

hey guys, I need to be convinced on what suspension I should get,

go with eibach pro-kit and a brand of struts

or go with coil-overs,

this car will be driven in the winter for a couple more years so what is more suitable for this

thanks

or any other brand of springs/strut setup
or do I really need the struts?

from everything i have seen people seem to like the Ground Control Coil-Overs. they give you the best of both world. and they have eibach springs. but the only downfall is the cost.

problem?

hey guys, I have narrowed my choice of lowering springs down to two kinds, tell me which is better and why,

Ground Control Coil-overs
Eibach pro kit

I know that the gc's have eibachs but what I like is the ability to lower it to what I want but want to know if they are any good?

thanks

The only problem is with the GC's, if you live in waterloo, the salt will eat them in the winter, so unless u don't mind rinsing off you're springs every time you go for a ride it might be a problem.

Please keep your posts to one thread per topic. I joined these threads since they are about the same topic.
As far as your suspension choice goes, you need to give more information about what you want to do with the car. What are your priorities as far as ride, handling, lowering, looks, cost, etc. No one else can tell you what you want. If you state what you want, we can give you advice about what will best fit your needs.

ok, coilovers seem like what i want but ain't too familiar with them, I like the fact that you can lower the car and raise it if you want and yea, all I want to know is are they reliable? also I was looking into the skunk2's which look better made then the gc's, What I want to know is are they hard to use? do you have to take off the wheels in order to raise it and lower it, every time you lower it do you need a alignment? and I don't mind having a stiff ride as long as it's not *** numbing type of ride.

thanks

I think Ground Control has a better reputation for quality than Skunk2. Their adjustment is supposed to be easier also since they only use one ring with a set screw while most others use two that must be tightened against each other to lock them in place.

ground control is definitely the way to go. they use an allen wrench to adjust, the skunk2's use spanner wrenches that are hard to manipulate. with the GC's you dont need to even take off the wheel but with spanner wrenches you are using 7 inch long tools rather than a 2 inch allen wrench. also, if you can get your car wiehged front and rear you can order directly from GC and have them give you springs with a specific spring rate(ie, if you have 6 15's in the back and 5 amps, they add weight) ive read other threads about people saying that lowereing your car will affect your car too much because you may hit the bumpstop too much, so the key it to cut it down to 3\4 of an inch or so. this is my opinion so dont take it as gospel.

air bags

i don't know what you want to spend, but the best way you can go is get air bags with 4 individual operation switches that way you can change your ride hieght whenever you want. My friend has them on his suburban and it looks awesome when he lets it rest on the ground when he parks...

I suggest them!!!

On a Suburban no less. How'd you like to hang onto that thing coming down a windy mountain road.
