David, the rotors look great. When did you get your kit? How's it working so far? I'm still waiting for mine. Darryl said it would be ready last Monday, I need to call and see what's up.

Brakes are great everyone that drives the car always mentions the powerfull brakes and how it handles. Along with the big rotors I've installed SS lines, Caron Fiber pads, ATE 5.1 fluid, and some tires that really grab pavement.

Is that $541 for a whole kit, including the rears? because If I do this to my p5 I want the rears done as well

I paid $541 for the front big rotor kit which included a Willwood 12.5" two piece crossdrilled and slotted rotor for use with 16" rims anodized red relocation braket to move the stock caliper out and all new grade 8 hardware for another $100 you'll get Stainless steeel lines and Carbon Brake bads which I highly recommend to take advantage of everthing the brakes can provide. To get Willwood four piston caliper I think it was another $1000. THis is just for the front as I have drums in the back. It would probally be the same amount of money for the rear.

Id assume you had your brake bias changed? Might be a REALLY good idea if you didnt
What is bias? I changed the fluid to ATE 5.1 and the brakes are awesome very well balnaced and madulation is right on spot infact when folks drive the car they are usally blown away by how good the brakes are.

Jesse, re-read his post. It uses stock calipers. The brake bias won't change if you're using bigger rotors with the same calipers

BTW brake bias is the front-to-rear balance of the brake system. Too much rear bias = rear brakes lock up before the fronts; too much front bias = front brakes do too much of the work. Brake bias also affects the car's handling under trail braking. Installing larger brake calipers will change the bias because the surface area of the caliper pistons is larger.

Intuitively that does not seem right... same calipers yes, but different pads and larger rotors... does that not imply that there is a change in the stopping power of the brakes. A larger rotor with an appropriately sized brake pad would allow for more friction. Thus the balance would be off.... no?

[updated] OK... after looking at the pics it seems that the kit actually just moves the surface area outward from the center hub, more linear area but the same gripping surface... so the size of the brake pad contact patch is the same... I now see why it would still be the same as before. I think.

So is the advantage that they look better as they fill the wheel more, or is there also a heat performance issue?

So much to learn, so little time....
