rear brakes at 20%, front at 60%...normal?

To measure brake life you look at the pad and the amount of remaining surface and to measure rotor life you use a micromotor to measure rotor thickness across the surface. These numbers have to meet certain standards or the brakes are considered unsafe.
My wife's car is at 65K miles on her original pads...my car is only at 9K so I know they are ok.

86000kms and pads are done.
86K fronts are done, I have them from the shop. I got organic pads put on. JUst wondering what those little clips on the edge of the pads were. If they are squeelers, then why were they not squeeling? Are they attached directly to the pad and finally how does one remove the brake pad.I rotated the caliper up out of the way and I was going to just pull at the clips but was wondering if they are reused with next pads. Long story short, I could not figure out how to get the pads out and since this was my first brake job..... I guess I should have just pulled on those clips with a screwdiver or needlenose.
I had the pads replaced at a local shop for $45 CAN. $29. for pads

Brakes are eazy to do yourself.
After you get the caliper out of the way, tap the pads with a hammer or screwdriver and hammer (carefully) and they will pop out.
There are two sets of "clips" one that attach to the back of the pad, (you can reuse those if you want) and the ones that attach to the brake pad bracket (on the top and bottom) Clean off those metal clips with wd40 and steel wool, the pads move back and forth on those and you need to keep those clean.
Tap the new pads back in, use a brake caliper pusher (from Can TIre) open the master cyclinder lid, push teh caliper in, slide caliper back on.
