Question Rear Suspension Squeaking

This is mostly because my boyfriend owns a Mazdaspeed Protege 2003, and his rear suspension has been squeaking more and more lately.
Granted, it is kind of chilly in Southern Cali right now, but I also think that it might have to do that he lived by the beach, and all that sand and other stuff got in there and messed with the greasing and what not.
His warrenty is not in use anymore, and I was wondering, if anyone knew what might be causing this.
He is going to try and grease his rear suspension, and see if that even does anything. Other than that, we are out of ideas.
I still suggested that he go to a dealership and see if they can figure out what is wrong. Also, if anyone else has had a similar problem to this.
Thanks a bunch for any advice or what not.

Squeaking or clunking? It sounds to me like you may have the dreaded MSP clunk. There is a TSB on this.

Where, I would like to read it to get better enlightened as to what is wrong with the suspension. It is quite annnoying, and does not just occur over random speed bumps and dips, but the majority of the time whilst driving.

This should help. Look in Technical Service Bulletins.
Lots of other good info in the FAQ as well.

Is there anything to take care of the squeaking? Mine squeaks front and rear on cold days over speed bumbs. Doesn't really bother me but I do plan on installing different springs and if I can take out two birds with one stone, why not.

my rear end squeaks as well but it did not start until our first hot day of spring around 80 degrees, the front end has been for the last 6 months when chilly and i have gotten used to it. However comma the rear only does it when turning and on uneven surface speed does not seem to effect either way, I had the "clunk" last year but it was not like this. taking to the dealer on monday, If i find out anything intresting i will post

i also had the same problem

my mp3 was always making those squeaking noises and i luckily was working at a mazda dealership at the time and the tech checked it out for me and it's a common problem for the msp's and mp3s. check the rear sway bar bushings remove the 2 bolts and grease them or replce them if they are worn. most likely thats what it is.
