Rusty Rotors

Hi..

I've owned my ES for one week and I've come across an annoying little visual problem, my brake rotors are always rusty. Basically if the car sits for a few hours the brake rotors grow a thin film of bright orange rust. I can wipe it off easily with my finger.

Has anyone else noticed this with their front and/or rear brake rotors? It's not hurting the performance or making any noise it's just sad to walk up to my brand new car and see bright orange rust between the 16" spokes.

Is this a common occurence with brand new brakes and pads that I'm oblivious to? The weather has been bad and the roads have been salty since I picked up the car last Monday. Could it be a salt/water/oxygen combo with perfect conditions or am I forever cursed with growing orange rotors whenever I park the car on a wet day?

Totally normal. It's caused by the humidity in the air. There's nothing you can do about it.

Cool, thanks for the info and the link. I tried a search but didn't find what I was looking for. I suppose I didn't look hard enough!

I never noticed this on my other car and I'm going paranoid about everything on the new car. Now I'll just not worry about and enjoy the ride.
