Steering Click/Thump

I noticed this the other day. If I turn the steering wheel while at a stoplight or in my driveway, and then I let go, it makes a click/thump noise. This only happens if I turn the steering wheel in a clockwise direction. Anyone have this problem?

I also have a noise coming from the hatch area. I think the inside plastic cover for the hatch is vibrating when I hit bumps. I cant figure out if its that or something else near the hatch. Any suggestions?

Bad, damaged? Are they covered by the warranty? Its been cold for the past couple of days here, could that cause the noise?

There is a thread called "Has anyone noticed LOOSE door panels????" in the "Interior/Exterior" section where I posted some pictures about using rubber weatherstripping to stop the noises from the doors. I´m sure it would work for the platic cover for the hatch.

I did not get it fixed, since the dealer says Mazda doesnt have a fix for it. I dont understand why the dealers play these games with us. If I brought my car to my regular mechanic, he would figure out what is causing the problem and fix it. Mazda dealers on the other hand do a *simple* diagnostic test, then call Mazda and tell them they hear a noise in a particular location. If Mazda doesnt have that problem on file, then the dealer cannot do anything until Mazda has a *fix*. Does this make any sense to you, or is my dealer blowing me off? I even called the Service Manager the other day to complain, and he gave the the same story as above and said "Our hands are tied, we cannot do anything." He says the noise is "normal" on all Proteges, YET I just started to have this noise about a month ago. I have about 9000 miles on my car. The noise is not incredibly annoying or effect my driving, BUT I dont want it to cost *me* alot of money down the road. As for the squeaking sound, my wife figured out it was the drivers seat. Some members of this board gave me suggestions on fixing the squeak, but I havent heard anything abou this problem yet. If you find out anything from your dealer, PLEASE pm me or reply to this thread again. Thanks, and GOOD LUCK!

I just wanted to bump this thread to see if anyone else has had this problem. It still isnt resolved, and not sure what I should do. I guess the only thing I can do is call Mazda USA.
