Strange Brake problem(?)

Hi,

I've got a 2002.5 P5 with ABS and 5-spd. I've noticed in the past few days that when I'm stopped at a light, the brake pedal drops a little bit after about 15 seconds of holding it down. It doesn't drop much, but it's enough that it was a tad startling when it happened. The brakes hold just fine without any additional pressure.

I can't say I've ever encountered behavior like this. I've only got about 160miles on the car so far. Yep, I just bought it.

I'll keep my eye on it, but I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing it.

Is the braking fluid container full enough so there are no leaks?

I know what you're talking about. I've noticed it on my 2002 ES a few times. I don't know what it is, but I think I remember the tone of the engine change as it did it. I'm not too worried though but I am curious about the cause.

It's likely that u had your AC turned on. When the compressor kicks in the ECU will adjust the fuel mixture to maintain the idle rpm in order to compensate the compressor load. That will affect the vacum going to the brake booster and your pedal might drop a bit.
