Warped rotors normal wear?
#16
I had a focus and rotors warped after 15K miles , front pads were changed and rotors skimmed and after 3K miles it would have happen again, but I got out of the focus.
Don't get me wrong it is a great car but N. American version is such a crap Ford really did chepened the parts quality and assembly standards. I wish it was the same as European version best resale value in it's class in UK, most reliable 3 years old car in Germany !!!!
Our ZX3 is just treated as crap by Ford N.America.
Brakes in my P5 are at 25K and I can see the signs of wear out , when stopping it is not a smooth and consistent stop it is jerky and uneven ,the slower the car goes during stopping the more jerky it stops. But no vibration thru steering wheel or front of the car.
Are my rotors done?

I have 89,000 miles on mine and have never had warped rotors. And this is with hard braking in traffic and autocrossing. The rotors were turned and front pads replaced at 23,000 miles. The rotors were turned to deglaze them. The cheap Midas pads that went on have actually lasted 66,000 miles! The sensors are now squealing, so it is time to replace them. Since I am doing them myself and they are probably worn below specs, I am going to replace the rotors with KVR cross-drilled.
BTW, in a couple of hours I am going to go pick up my friend at work and drive her home. Her Focus Wagon is spending the next few days at the dealer. This is her 18th warranty repair in just a year and a half (rain flooding passenger footwell through firewall... again)! And her brakes were warped and pads totally worn in only 16,000 miles.

Have you noticed any dents forming on the rear liftgate between the window and licence place? My friend has had her's repaired twice and now they are replacing the entire liftgate. We see it on almost every Focus Wagon, even new ones at the dealership.

P.S. I must be working my pads too long as I have had rotors changed on all my cars/van. I suck! I just purchased a Ford Focus wagon and traded my Voyager. I love the handling, hate the looks. Focus on the Focus and you'll go blind and dumb. But its pretty confortable and I love waranty. Anyways, I am scared shi8888S! I have heard that their brakes on the Focus can wear in as little of tiem as 15000miles. (replacement-15000miles
