What u recommend for pads?

Just got Brembo cross-drilled and slotted rotors and wanna change the brake pads. Don't know much about brake pads. Wanna know what u guys recommend. I've heard that KVR Carbon Fiber pads are good, but for race use only since optimal performance requires optimal temperature. I've also heard good stuff about Hawk HPS pads and EBC Green Stuff. Any comments would be wonderful! Thanks !

Call Tire Rack and see if Probe GT pads fit P5s. I think they are the same from working with the calipers but never tried to swap pads yet. IF they do interchange I would go with EBC Green or Red. Great bite and dustless for the most part, a plus with drilled rotors...

I haven't changed brake pads on the Pro5 yet, but we are using EBC Green Stuff on our Focus. They are a lot less dusty than OEM and they seem to work just fine on high speed touring day and on drag strip day!

Hope that helps.

Where can I get these EBC Green Stuff pads for cheapest price? I'm not in a "super-rush" but would like them when I get my brakes checked soon. Thanks for your help.

On average they are around $80 for a front set (I can't remember but I think that was for all 4 front pads). I haven't researched any of these prices lately, and sorry can't tell you how it compares to other pads. But I know they perform great and have a good life span...

here are some prices in case you havn't had a chance to search around... These prices are from www.thetirerack.com and are for the four front pads

Hawk: HPS (street) pads $58 +shipping
Hawk: HP Plus (street +race worthy) $69 +shipping

These EBC prices are matched from a 1997 Probe GT, actually I think all the 2nd gen probes had the same front calipers as the GT, just drums in back... Please don't order these assuming that they will fit, this is just an assumption from working with both calipers. (I use to own a PGT and now a P5, and I think they are identical)

EBC Greenstuff $79 +shipping
EBC Redstuff (Race worthy) $99 +shipping

Hope that helps a little...

As far as tirerack... should I get the Hawk HPS for the front only... I don't think it's available for the rears, right, or am I wrong?
I don't drive hard/or brake hard... so perhaps the EBC Greenstuff would be enough... are the prices you quoted on the Greenstuff only for a pair (4 pieces) for the front? Thanks... good help is hard to find these days...

Sorry I have no experience with Hawk pads, so I don't know if the EBC's are worth a little extra...

The EBC prices, like the hawks, are for 4 seperate pads (2 left caliper, 2 for right) so basically 80 bucks to equip the front of the car with new pads. If you don't do lots of hard driving it isn't as big of a deal to get the rear pads. With all four wheels having the same pads you would get a more balanced "bite", but the front brakes handle most of the load during normal braking. Ideally you should have all of the pads the same, but it is not a must...

I just purchased a set of KVR carbon fiber pads and the KVR cross-drilled rotors. I won't have them for a couple of weeks, but everything I have read on the KVR pads has been good. According to KVR, they require no warm up for regular street use. Plus, they supposedly have very little dusting, increased life, and produce less heat when compared to regular pads. They are $59 from Corksport. I'm paying $213 for the pads and rotors with shipping. Not bad and, since I am doing it myself, cheaper than a cheap-part brake job at a shop. I'll let you know how they work when I get them.
