Upgrading the sound system, pro's and cons.
After reading another post in here about some guy getting his car broken into, I'm beginning to wonder if I should bother looking into replacing the stereo with something a little more exciting. Hell, I mean nobody breaks into a car to steal the stock stereo do they?, I've never seen it in my life time. It just makes you wonder if the pleasure of having a great sound system is worth with pain of having it ripped off and your car damaged in the process. I had a Honda civic Si that was broken into and they busted up the dash and did all kinds of damage to it. The frikin car had an alarm as well, but that didn't seem to matter as their are ways to get around them. Oh well just venting here, but what do you guys think about this ?

Well I rather take my chances with the robbers than to listen to that stereo. The stock speakers just plain suck and the radio is under powered. So for me there was no alternative. And Iw ould really like to see somebody break into my car, I got a two way alarm system and two sirens, Lets just say that it wakes me up no matter what.

Anyway, I have a 3 way crossover and a 13 bad eq to channel the sound and tweek it to my hearts content...no head unit on the market has that kind of flexibility. If it sounds like poop, I'd consider making a "stock looking" faceplate and place it on top of the after-market hu.
I'm hoping to order the loc in the next week; should be about $50...I am going to have a status page of my efforts on either carsound.com or cardomain.com
good luck with your system!
