2 or 4 channel amp
hi everyone, i've now replaced all my stock speakers and my next step is an amp, but i'm not sure of either 2 or 4 channel, at first i was gonna get a 4 channel amp, but now i'm thinking that running all the wires and stuff from the hu to the amp and then back to the speakers would be a big job, i have the stock hu so i'd be using speaker wires as the imputs. has anyone ever amped just their rear speakers and used the front ones straight from the radio? my back speakers have way more bass and sound better than the fronts so i figure the backs would give me more than enough sound.here's another question, after you amp the back speakers will they play at the same volume as when they were not amped? i know that i will be able to play them louder and get a cleaner signal but i'm just wonder about volume, cause if i play the amped back ones loud then i'll be sending the front speakers the loud and distorted signal from the hu and that will distort them, any advise would be greatly appreciated

well if you only want to amplify your rear speakers you could get a two channel but make sure your getting a full range amp and not a mono block but in answer to your other question yes you could run the amplified rear speakers the same as they were before just adjust your volume control on the amp until it's to the the level that you want but one other thing from personal experience if your just going to run the stock hu then get a line out converter it's much easier and IMO it sounds alot cleaner than using the high input selecton on the amp aight hope that helps if you have any other questions just pm me and i'll help as much as i can

If you are going to amp anything, amp the fronts. That's where you want your sound coming from, not behind you.
But hooking up a 4 channel amp vs a 2 channel amp is not that much more work. It's only a few more wires, and since running wire is usually the biggest pain, you can run them all at the same time and it's no big deal.

get the 4 channel...amp them all...and since you are using the stock head unit...and will be using an amp with speaker level inputs....LIKE I DID...then you will be running speaker wires from the head unit to the amp....and then just run the output wires back to the head unit and tie directly back into the stock speaker wires going to the speakers....piece of cake! worked like a champ for me!
