3.25" deep CDT speakers in front door...possible?
I came across an awesome deal on some CDT CL61 components. The problem is they require a 3.25" mounting depth and I've seen Sir Nuke's post about the max depth that would fit is 2.5" - 2 5/8" and that means they are .75" too deep. Even if I put a spacer there I'm afraid it won't clear the door grill.
So the question is...should I take the risk and go for them?

You should be able to install them in the doors using a 3/4 inch MDF spacer (painted)mounted on the door . You may have to trim the inside of the door panel for clearance of the spacer and speaker.

its gonna be close....real close....but there IS about an inch between the stock speaker and the edge of the grill in the door....you will need to trim the part of the inner door panel that makes a seal between the speaker grill and the STOCK speaker...but that is easy....good luck.

You will have to make your own . Use 3/4" MDF ,shape to fit the 6X8 outsde of the factory speaker ,Cut a hole to fit the 6.5 mounting hole . Sand edges ,paint ,Mount spacer to door using bolts not screws, mount new speaker in door ,attach doorpanel carefully ,you may have to trim the door panel on the inside to fir the panel on. Before you put the door panel on add some weather striping around the 6.5 . this will seal the front wave from going behind the door panel . Put door panel on again . Hope this helps.

don't know door panel layouts of p5's, but couldn't you cut out the paneling on the outside, install a .25 inch spacer behind the door panel with at least a door kit of dynamat, and just use some long screws to mount those puppies, or are these components the standard 5x7(?) sizing for mp5 speakers? you know, nice visible grill install?
