'92 Protege headunit installation!!
Hey, guys.
I'm going to install new CD player in my friend's '93 Protege. I'm sorry but I don't know anything except her car is '93 Protege.
How do I take out her old factory tape player which doesn't work any more? Are there some screws to remove? Please instruct me how to remove the old one and put new CD player. detail, please!! (single din headunit will fit?)
Where can I get a harness to connect new CD player? any specific model name?
What size will fit for the front and rear speakers?(for future upgrade)
I just wanna help her to save $50 for installation. Please help me out not to mess up!!
Thanks.
Jun.

I'm not sure how to take it out, but if you get the Metra install kit, good luck putting the deck in. You're going to have to whittle the factory trim panel as well as the install kit.
As for things you need, go to your local electronics store and get:
Wiring Harness adapter for '90-'94 protege
Install kit for single DIN chassis for '90-'94 protege
Using the adapter, follow the wire color coding stated in the manuals of the deck and the adapter, and either twist 'n tape or solder the correct wires together.
The install kit is a lot more fun and involves a heck of alot of guess work. If you can make it fit correctly you are a god LOL.
As for the speakers, the front are 5.25" and 6.5" fit in the rear but you will need to drill new holes for screws.
If you need any more detail on this matter email robmwatt@yahoo.com
