Smile Adding line-in to the stock HU?

Hello everyone (first post), I just recently bought a '02 Protege and was wondering if there is a way to add some kind of line-in to the stock HU. From what I see the stock HU has some kind of modular system where a cassete or MD unit can be plugged in. I was wondering if I could somehow tap into the line-in on this interface so that when I selected TAPE/MD I could plug in another audio source. I would definitely prefer this route to say using an FM modulator, unless someone here says there is no discernible audio loss through such a device. The reason I ask is I have a 10GB iPod and would love to get in my car, plug it in, and continue listening to my music library. Thank you.

FM mode can preform well enough for most people. I'd suggest try it before attempting the time at determining the pin outs and trying to tap the stock cd player.

here's an easy solution...there's a wireless product called the iRock that is designed to be used with many devices including the iPod...you plug it into the iPod and then set your radio to the specified station (i believe it's 88.7 or something like that) and then it wirelessly transmits the signal/songs to your radio/system...may not be the same as an fm modulator, but a friend of mine has it for his iPod and it works rather well...plus it's a lot less work

here's a couple of links about it:

hope that helps
