Alarm Sensitivity

Alarm Sensitivity
Just spent a week with the new Mazdaspeed. Very nice. Not like my RX7 at all, but nice. Anyone know how to turn down the alarm sensitivity? Every time I fart the alarm goes off. Maybe its a smell detector?

There is a zippo lighter sized box with a small **** on the side attached to the steering wheel column. You'll need to look up in there and get a flashlight to see it, but the **** adjusts sensitivity.

Wow! I would recommend coming here, www.msprotege.com, and www.clubprotege.com for any questions. Every one here are also on the other sites have been so helpful in all areas of the car. A lot of crap over my head is explained, and I have been able to do a lot of stuff by myself thanks to the help of this forumn and others like it. It helped save me several hundred dollars in costs. I too try to do what I can to help people with things I have encountered or hear about. That is what it is all about!

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.
oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.
Welcome!!
hope you found the little box....its pretty crowded down there in the floor looking up....but its there....most of us that have the factory alarm had to turn the silly thing down....I couldn't even wipe a bug off my windshield without it going off...lol

Thanks guys. I usually hang out at Mazspeed.com. The Speed is my 7th Mazda in the last decade and a half. Cars, trucks, rotaries, pistons, etc. I keep trying to buy another brand of car and I alway fail. I also think Mazdas appeal to cheapskates, which I am. I am also an old fart and should not be hanging out here, I should be doing work around home! Oh well.
The new Speed is my way of not letting wifey get dull on me. She wanted peppy and four doors. I looked at the Jetta and came back to the Protege. The Jetta really felt sloppy in comparison. Seemed to me I would have to buy a new chip and a lot of suspension to match the Speed. And the cost and reliability for repairs looked grim. The WRX was a lot more bucks and was too small inside. Plus, the Subes are still front wheel torque bias anyway. Back to the Protege. Well, a detour to a Ford Cosworth Escort AWD with rear torque bias. Yeow! Well, the bank account was too small for that one. Back to the Protege!
The yellow gets the looks, which I don't need but amuse me. I am rebuilding my 83 RX7 for fun. Next year I may paint it Protege orange. What a nice pair of eye poppers I would have!

There is another site called www.sounddomain.com (click under "member pages") and you can get some ideas and pics of both MazdaSpeed Pros and RX-7s as well. I hear the same about Jetta's handling. It is the first thing enthusiasts do to it is change the suspension on the new ones. Besides that, it's a woman's car like the Beetle. Just don't see many guys driving in them.

It looks like a little box with a very tiny button, white, on the side. The button is a ****, and counterclockwise seems to decrease the sensitivity. I had to get on my back to find it. Near the column.
