Anyone know if there are any kind of altezza tail lights are available yet for the MP5?

 

Has anyone here bought the altezza lights for thier 3rd gen.? I was thinking about buying some carbon fiber altezza's for my MP3. Only thing is when I bought the clears for my old honda accord they leaked and got all foggy looking . I was wondering if anyone has had this problem.
I am also looking for a nice looking(round) carbon fiber type muffler w/ silencer perhaps. Does anyone know where I might be able to pick one up for a good price?

Hey Mike, How do you like the lights so far? Have you had any problems with them leaking at all? One last thing...where did you get them from and how much? They look good dude Seeing them on your car makes me want them even more thanks for the reply.

 

never been a big fan of altezzas for proteges, but that's just me, I just tinted my tail lights

 

I love the lights so far :] I've gotten lots of compliments on them. There is one spot in the corner of one of my lights thats very small that looks like it's got some 'fog' in it. But I really haven't had a problem with them at all. I've power washed them, just took the hose with no pressure and run water over them trying to see if they leak, and no problems. I figured when it started gettin in the 40's here which it has, that they'd start building condensation, but nothing other than the initial little spot of fog which i'm sure I can fix if I remove the light and take a look at it. As for getting wheels before lights... $600 - $1200 mod, or $160? Gee... I wonder.

 

Just be carefule when buying altezza taillights, alot of companys recommend using a good silcone sealant on the seals of the bezel b\4 installing them, cause once that water is in, its a paint to get out and if you dont get it out immediately then it begins to peel off that fake chrome they got goin on inside there. So be smart and take precautions before you throw away your 200 bucks. Or learn the hard way like me :-)

 

That's a good idea. Seal them before you put them on and you shouldn't have any problems.

 

Ya that is a good idea to seal tham b/4 you install. And as for the wheels...I'm covered because I own an MP3 with 17in. stockers to begin with. But you are right as well, purchasing a wheel package is the better way to spend ones money. This cars handling capabilties are awsome. Thanks for all the feedback.

 

Think about this way...

Let's assume your disposable income will require you to save for three months to amass $1000 for wheel mods.

So you can either wait three months to get wheel mods and then another two weeks to get lights.

Or you can get lights now, and enjoy them for three months while you save up for the wheel mods.

He didn't say he would choose lights over wheels, just that economics dictate lights first if he wants to get something now. Give the guy a break!

 

I don't think so. It's too new. Doesn't the Protege 5 sort of come with 'Altezza' type tail lights?

 

Tint them for 10$ CDN = 6$ US hehe

you'll be very proud of them like me since you will do it yourself......

Did you use the spray tint? If so, is it tough to spray evenly? I don't want one light darker than the other or any one area of the light too dark.

nope really easy, and if you have a 1st or 2nd gen I'm guessing that it will be even easier.

You just take the whole light out from the trunk, it pops right out, disconnect the lights, tape up whatever you dn't want tinted (I left the white section white), and do light coats until you like it how dark it is. I did three coats, and to make it even you have to wait about 10 minutes at least in between coats. Also when you do the side part, spray it and then tilt it horizontally and hold it like that for half a minute so that it doesn't run on you......
