amp and the stock deck?
i saw someone did this and was wondering, dose the stock hu have rca outputs? how elese would you be able to hook the amp up dont you have to run an rca cable from the hu to the amp? please help me i am very interested in doing this so i can power my alpine's that i already have installed.
ohh i have 1 other questtion. what would be a good 4 channel amp to use for this mod? i have the type s's i think i do know that they are the cheaper alpines but, i dont really know the power output for them so i don know what size amp to get?

You would need to tap into the correct wires in the harness to feed the amp (or level converters) but that should be straight forward enough.
As for the rest of the questions... I'll let the audio gurus take a shot at them... asking which is the best type of audio equipment is like asking what is the best kind of beer... everyone has a distinct and varied opinion

anywho the RMS power the subs want is 200w RMS, so i would give the subs at least 200w rms, more power doesn't not mean you'll blow them, remember, distortion and heat will kill the cone, so don't crank your gain and don't "abuse them" and they will work for a long time. BTW Type S subs are no longer their cheap series from what i hear, there is another thread about "Type E" subs, and those are the cheap models Type S is really a midline model now.

One might want a 4-channel amp to power the four non-sub speakers in the car, since the stock HU doesn't really have enough power to make good aftermarket speakers really sing. I have a JBL 4-channel amp powering mine.
There are generally two ways to go on powering a multi-channel amp from the stock HU. One is to find an amp that takes speaker-level inputs, which is often called "high-level" inputs. Then you can just run the speaker outs from the HU to the amp, generally with clip-style connectors.
The other option is to use line output converters (LOC) to step the speaker-level output down to line level so you can use standard RCA inputs to the amp. If you do a search on this site there are several places where people discuss this. (Again, this is the setup I have.)

I have the stock deck torn apart on my bench as I speak. If you just wait a couple 0f days I will post the pics on where to solder you RCA outputs from the pc board inside the head unit. This will give you your pre amp out of the factory head unit. It is easier to use a high to low level adapter. The auto part stores have them in the stereo section for about $14.00.
