Question Anyone painted the center of their rims?

Hi All

I have a 2002 vivid yellow P5 and I'm interested to know if anyone has painted the logo cap on the center of the rims. I'm talking about the plastic Mazda logo.

The reason I ask is because I'm thinking of painting the cap red to match the calipers. I'll still have the "M" as the chrome but I think the back as red would look cool. I've seen some aftermarket rims on other vehicles and some of them have different colour hubs like blue and red so I thought this might add a little personality to my car. I did a search of the board and did not find anything.

I can't remember who for the life of me - but there was one guy who painted the stock rims white, and did what you said with the center caps - he painted them white to match, but left the Mazda symbol chrome.

Try searching for painted rims or something like that - I wish I could remember who it was, and where the pix were. Maybe he'll rear his head and shout for us....

Yeah, I'll be the guniea pig. I already shot one of them and by itself it looks good but we'll see how it looks on the rim. As I mentioned to sandman in another post, if I don't like it I can always replace it, after all they are only some cheap *** plastic caps.

hihosilva, I did a search and nothing came up. Maybe my keyword was wrong. I'll try again. I seem to also recall that someone painted his wheels white.

Or you can take a picture of your car, and use photoshop to see what it'll look like. Better than having to buy more cheap plastic. Money still money.

Too late, 1 already painted. This way I have to paint them all now. Also, it probably doesn't matter as it is something small and not huge bands of red, right.

Here be pics, taken today. As I said only one painted so you can see the difference. I have just finished painting the rest and will put them on tomorrow so I can let them dry overnight.

As you can see the calipers have not been painted as yet and that is the next thing to be done.

Dude that actually looks pretty good, but i wanna see the complete package with the red painted calipers before i do mine cuz my calipers are red too so we pretty much have the same setup.

Hi Matthew,

If you know someone with Photoshop maybe you can take a photo and put in the blue colour. At least you can get an idea before you paint. I get caught up in doing stuff like this and just do it. Of course I don't do this for the big stuff but this small stuff is pretty quick I think.

Yeah, I thought of that but I wanted some contrast between the logo and the background. In yellow you would not see the "M", plus the calipers would soon be red.
