ash tray flap and cig cover

anyone know how to get the little flap/door and black face plate, that is around the cigarette lighter, off? i cant figure it out, all i see is two little prongs in the back of where the ash tray would be. i took off the panel that is around the shifter and unscrewed the two screws there but still couldnt get the ash tray holder out. ( I want to paint these two things blue like the rest of my center console and door/window switch panels)

So you're trying to remove the door from the piece with the lighter plug, and ashtray, or you can't get the whole thing out of the dash?

If you just can't get it out, then you were really close. Remove the cupholders, remove the piece around the shifter, unscrew the two screws on the bottom of the ashtray. Grab the ashtray/lighter section (it helps to put your thumb in the lighter plug, just make sure the ignition is off ) and pull firmly towards the back of the car to release the two tension clips at the top of the deely.

That help?
