Auto windows/moonroof

I saw a guy that rigged up his power windows and moonroof so that with his remote keychain he can roll all the windows up and down when the car is off. He also had a button for the moonroof to open and close when the car was off.

Does anyone know how to do this? Is there a kit to do this, or is it custom wiring?

There are modules that control this. Basically controlled relays that measure voltage to shut off the motor when it's closed. Any good alarm shop should know how to do that.

It depends on the alarm system, but most good alarms have add-on, plug-in modules to do this stuff.

I wanted to do the windows thing, too - unfortunately, my alarm sems to only have one "slot" for plug-in stuff, and my remote start is using it. Oh well.

It's really not that complicated - it's why you see most decent alarm fobs have an extra "option" button or something like that.

PS - I have an aftermarket moonroof - dealer installed and warrantied, so I'm safe - It's by SolAire, and it closes automatically about 10 seconds after you shut the car off. Nice feature - I know I'd always forget. Freaked the hell out of me the first day though, because I came out of my buddy's house expecting it to be open (because I left it that way) and it was closed - hmmm....

As DJScribble said, you'll need window modules, 3 modules actually (or 2 depending on brand) I'll refer to DEI modules (529T and 530T) each 529T module is good for 2 windows up OR down or 1 window up AND down or can be used to open AND close the sunroof. Can be activated upon arm to ROLL-UP the windows and CLOSE the sunroof. They can also be activated with an extra alarm channel output, independently or as a group, depending on how many extra alarm channels you have. (BTW, DEI also has a channel expander module good for 6 channels)

The 530T modules are automation systems, and converts ALL window switches to AUTO. single touch moves all the way down or up, a second tap of the switch will stop it. The 530T also has a vent feature, in where a quick press of the remote button will vent the window(s) about 1 inch, each quick press of the remote button will move it about 1 inch, press and hold the button for 2 secs and it/they will roll down. Each 530T is also good for 2 windows up OR down or 1 window up AND down or can be used to open AND close the sunroof. (But i recommend the 529T for sunroofs) Can be activated upon arm to ROLL-UP the windows and CLOSE the sunroof. They can also be activated with an extra alarm channel output, independently or as a group, depending on how many extra alarm channels you have.

There is usually extensive installation as the wires are usually in a hard to reach spot and you MUST run wires into the driver door for the driver window wires. Pick an experienced shop for this type of job.

There are many other brands and modules out there, I refer to DEI as i feel they are the best and most reliable. I have 2 529T modules in my car running off a Viper, but never did get around to the sunroof....
