Aux input connector pinout

Aux input connector pinout
I'm trying to add a 1/8" bulkhead mini jack (female) to the blank panel between my volume and tuning ***** (where a factory cassette or minidisc would go) so I can plug in my portable MP3 player. Does anyone know the pinout for the aux input that would be used for the cass/MD? Is it a seperate connector on the HU? I know it would use at least three conductors (wires), left/right/ground. I can figure this out with a meter, but I haven't been able to get the HU out of the dash. Guess I'll need the Ford radio removal tools.

Aux input connector
OK, I removed the head unit and found there is a 15 pin connector on the bottom of the unit where the MD/TAPE would plug into. Now all I need to figure out is which pins are audio ground, hot, and neutral... anyone have a schematic that might have this info? It would save me tearing apart this unit more than I already have.

hmmm, you have a good idea there... ill be intrested to see what comes of this. Someone should be able to help you out, otherwise theyll call you crazy.
if you cant find the pin out, just start trying diffrent combos...lol

Aux input connector pinout (Sorry ..Long)
Hi all,
I'd been thinking exactly the same thing. I've got a Creative Nomad MG (magnesium casing) with a nice wired remote. I'd been wanting to hook it up to the stock HU for now until I replace it with an aftermarket one.
So last weekend I took the HU out and searched for any pins for MD/TAPE audio input.
I decided to stop searching because it would take too much time since I do not have a schematic diagram or the module.
To make this work we would have to find not only pins for Left-audio and Right-audio out but also pins for enabling the soft MD/TAPE switch at the front panel.
It would be much easier if we could get a hold of the MD or TAPE module and track the pins.
It is easier to make a parallel connection with the internal CD audio out or make a switch to toggle between (low level) internal CD out and external portable MP3 out to the tone control of HU integrated amplifier or design a small mixer with a couple of resistors and ceramic capasitors and a small sliding Variable Resistor to mix internal CD out and external MP3 out. Of course this would require some PCB tracks cutting/canceling.
One easier solution is to find the best FM modulator you can find (the one with a transmitting antenna), then find a switch that switches two things one is the power on/off the FM modulator and the other one to toggle the antenna from HU to the modulator and HU to antenna. Drill two holes between tuning and volume. One for the switch and the other is for MP3 jack in (3.5mm stereo jack). You can cover the bottom part of the HU with a matching plastic cover or something like that (there are four holes for screws). You can then hide the FM modulator and the FM antenna splitter inside the stock HU pocket. This is what I ended up doing.
This is my .5 cents.
