Cool Awesome custom sub install

This is it! I got my p5 back today and am so pleased with it. You must check out the three pics I posted. The subs are concept EX-10's, the amp is a D800, the cap it a Rockford digital 20 volt. I think it's super-sweet

Photoablum with subs.

I'm running at least 800 watts RMS into this. For specs on the equipment go to this webpage:

Not yet. I'll probably just use a blanket or something soft. I seldom carry a lot of stuff but when I do I'll have to use the rear seats as well. I suppose it is a trade off. It's all worth it to me though.
Ya it's LOUD. At volume 15 out of maximum 40, with the bass turned up, everything shakes madly. I still haven't tried it maxed out.

Great! Just phase invert the signal in it is just as though the subs were facing up.

Those are some bad *** subs. You're gonna need one helluva amp to run those
It was tough to shell out the cash for these three fairly expensive subs but I wanted a total impedence of 1 Ohm and 3 subs. The only way to do that is with 6 ohm drivers.
Now all thats left is replacing the stock speakers, installing a 4 channel amp for the coaxles, and renovationg the amp rack to fit another amp. I'm thinking of moving my amp up to a 1200 watt version but am not sure, pretty expensive.

if your gonna put in all that money...why don't you just get some kicker solo's. They will look much better than just a round sub and they move some hella air. I only have one 15" (and it's not even the new square ones) running in my pro, and it's more than enough. They say that the new 12" solo hit's much harder than my round 15"solo!!!

IMHO, I much prefer the look of 3 inverted round subs. Not that the Kicker solo is bad or anything, I just read about it on their webpage. Looks like a very powerful sub. However I like the crisp sound of 10" compared to a 12" or 15". My pictures may not do my setup justice but when seeing them in person it looks hella good. The EX-10's put out an incredible amount of bass and look amazing. They have a custom engraved plate on the magnet because they look so good when inverted. As for loudness...since concept is known to under-rate their amplifiers, whatever it is I'm pumping into those things makes an insane amound of noise. With all of the different kinds of bass settings adjusted properly, it's so loud and powerful I can't think straight. I'm afraid I'll crack a window or damage something. At a recent car show they were pumping over 500 watts RMS into each of these things all day and there were zero problems. And if I did blow them, I get an over the counter swap with no questions asked.

In the end, we all have our favorite brands to stick beside. Every company's stuff(well, almost) will sound amazing if properly setup.

I was just suggesting that b/c they do have a 10" solo, but still rate them as loud as my round 15". I have been to a couple sound shows around here and the kicker solo's were just taking over everyone else's sound. Now think..... a 10" sub that is as loud as a 15" round one, but still have the tight sound of a 10". Also the fact that you are gonna have them inverted, is going to knock you down a couple notes. I am pumping 800watts into my solo 15" and it still doesn't really have to jump around too much to satify me.... just a thought....I think you should listen to some and make a decision!!!

Inverting them does reduce a couple db. But I'm pretty happy with how loud it is . I feel that once you got a really loud sound, a bit louder isn't very noticable. A single Kicker solo may very well be louder than one of my subs but at $75 more a pop, those kickers are a considerable step up in price as well. I could have only afforded to buy two of those S10L7's. Kicker claims these subwoofers give users the equivalent performance of the next size larger speaker. In all of my looking(listening) around I've found that 3 10's are a bit louder than 2 12's, using the same amp. Still, they look like great subs, haven't heard them because none of the local dealers are carrying them. Maybe I would have considered them if I hadn't become a Concept fan.

I think I'll be entering into a few SQ competitions, those SPL comps can be rough on the car and require a lot of amps and extra power. I mean, some of the setups people have are just nuts!

I guess thats why I bought a deck that has an auto adjusting EQ and a bunch of other goodies to tune the sound. Still need to replace the factory speakers though. Even with the small amp in the deck(22 watts rms each), my p5 speakers started to distort at around 32 out of 40 volume.
